Why wont my dvd player load the disc - Sony DVP-NS50P DVD Player

When you load the DVD, instead of the content loading, the word "Root" comes up? This means the content is either corrupted, the disc is dirty, or damaged. In other words, the laser is not able to reach and pick up the magnetic information on the disc. Does this happen with another DVD player? Try doing that first. In the meantime, clean the disc. If the disc can't be read by another DVD player, then the disc is at fault. If another DVD player can load the disc with no problem, the original DVD player you used, may have a dirty lens (what the laser shoots out of), or the laser is not moving at all. If this is the case, the DVD player is broken.

maybe the motor disc spindle are damaged and need to be replaced

its cause is a special disc some dvds read it and others wont is cause the disc has like other different lens.

try cleaning the lens first.then load a disk.try a different disc like VCD, CD etc.if only the DVD's are not read, the lens and the mainboard itself is faulty.but, if after cleaning it, it goes ok ,then its just dirty.

Try to use a optical disc cleaner for the player, this can only be a dirty lens thats why the unit cant read the disc inserted.,

This dvd's fails because a dry capacitors on the alimentation source you need to send to a repair service center.

my dvd player when i switched on only stand by light on but the machine does nt respond.

Having the same problem. DVD player loads enough to identify it is a DVD or a CD, but won't actually start playing anything.

when you say wont load up do you mean you cant insert dvd or do you mean,wont read,impossible to give you a cure without more details of fault
