OLYMPUS XD Card - CLEAN or FORMAT - and not reading in computer

I have an Olympus 2GB XD card that when inserted in the camera reads CLEAN or FORMAT -
When I insert the card in the card reader on the computer it doesnt even see it.

There are files on the card that I would like to recover - any suggestions?

Other cards work in both camera and laptop so its not the equipment, its definitly the card.

HELP!

Your 2gb xd card would be of the "M" or "H" designation, which is a new type of card which is not always compatible with many cameras and card readers. If the other cards that work are not H or M cards, that is most likely the problem

I spoke with Olympus in Prague who said their Olympus USB XD card readers will solve the problem. My solution with my E-30 was to copy in-camera from the XD card to the CF card and then read from the CF card using my computer's card reader.

Olympus xd card formatting problems.
If you like the camera and XD cards then I would use the USB cable to download the photos from the camera. When you plug the USB cale into the camera and then into the computer, the computer should recognize the camera and set it up as another disk drive. Copy or move the pictures from the card to your Photo location. Use the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray to disconnect the camera and your done. The camera can format the XD card and the computer can read it through the camera.

Problem with olympus digital camera d-395
The problem is that the largest xD card that your camera can support is a 512mb card without the letter M or H in front of the 2gb. The 1gb or 2gb cards are not compatible. The firmware in the camera cannot support memory storage with that capacity. The camera came out before those cards did and there are no plans to upgrade the camera to allow those types of cards to be supported.
