I have a timex expedition. Eventhough the battery is new, the alarm and the beep function does not work properly. I have to shake the watch to make it work

If your Timex Expedition watch alarm and beep function are not working properly, even with a new battery, it could be caused by a few different things. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the alarm settings: Make sure the alarm is turned on and set to the correct time. Also, check that the alarm is set to the correct mode, such as daily or weekly.
  2. Check the watch's manual: Refer to the instruction manual that came with your watch to see if there are any specific instructions for setting the alarm or beep function.
  3. Check the vibration function: If the vibration function of the watch is not working, it could cause the alarm and beep to not function properly. Try resetting the watch or contacting Timex for assistance.
  4. Check for physical damage: Inspect the watch for any physical damage such as a cracked or broken case, or a damaged alarm switch.
  5. Check for water damage: If the watch has been exposed to water, it could cause damage to the electronic components. If water has entered the watch, it is best to take it to a professional watch repair center for service.
  6. Check if the watch have a warranty: If the watch is still under warranty, you should contact the manufacturer for service or repair.

Alarm and chime does't work after installing a new battery?

There is sometimes a need to re-set the watch after installing a new battery and there may be an instruction to "short battery to case" inside the watch.

Was the battery changed by a technician or yourself? If the latter, the seek the advice of a friendly local watch repairer, who may be able to sort it out for you.

I have read the instructions for a watch that looks like your (in the Amitron range) but there was no useful information given.

Stumped

Try to use a piece of tape to cover on the battery, this is a way to do the insulation to prevent bad contact.
