Check with a volt meter if you are getting power to the machine where the wire hooks up to the washer. it that's ok then I would check the door latch if it is not closing like it should you may have a problem with the latch switch. I had an whirlpool that happen to and I replace the latch and it worked with no more problem
Testimonial: "William, I bought a new door switch and replaced it. Still nothing. Is there anything else it could be?"
The first thing to do would be to turn the power off to the D/W for about an hour to bleed off any excess power still in the electronic control board. This resets the main PCB (printed circuit board). If this does not fix the problem, then I would need more information about what the unit is doing at this time.

jamcdani Most likely the problem with your dish washer is bad key pad. It is not repairable and has to be replaced. Whirlpool does not sell it separate and you have to by the whole console assembly. The price range is between $95 and $115 (different colors) and it is not very complicated to replace it. I can help you with the complete step by step instructions and, if you provide the complete model number of your dish washer, I get the part number and the best price for you. Gendos post back...

will these units (silo and jtrip) start back on their own? if so, it is likely they are heating the water.
otherwise it sounds like a logic board, unless there is a defective door switch or sensor issue.
electronics seem to be a recurring problem with whirlpool.
i would ask whirlpool (electorlux) to either buy it back or fix it.
good luck

There is a small replacable part on the control panel circuit board which is like a fuse. It actually is a temperature fuse and it blows when the environment gets too hot for the circuit board. Unplug the dishwasher and take the door apart so you can see the circuit board. If you trace the power wires one of them leads to a little white module with 2 electrical tabs. Unplug the 2 wires and unsnap the module. You can check it with an ohm meter. IF its good the meter will register almost a short. f it's bad it will be open. The parts place I went to didn't even need a model number and he says he goes through a lot of them.

We also have a Quiet series 100 and had the same problem, the dishes always came out dingy or with food all over them. My washer is about 5 years old and worked well for about 4 of them but the last year has been doing a poorer and poorer job washing the dishes. I finally broke down and removed the racks and all of the plastic parts from the inside of the washer. Doing this revealed that the groves in the under side of most of the plastic parts was clogged with food and debris. After a good scrubbing with water and a brush then reassembly it worked like a new washer again, cleaning the dishes very well and the best part is it saved us about $700.00 for another washer.
