Yes you have to prop it up on blocks and clean it with vacume accessories. You can turn it on it back and clean it but you have to let it stand for 2 to 4 hours after standing it up right before plugging it back in to allow the free on to filter through.

Hello, so my freezer is blowing air that smells like dead fish. It’s a Frigidaire but no idea what year. We just moved in and the fridge hasn’t had anything in it in over a month at least and has been kept...

Spray the inside of the fridge with a 50/50 mix of bleach and water and close the door. Leave for 15 minutes. Spray again and rinse off with clean water. Buy a packet of Arm and Hammer Baking Soda and put a couple of tablespoons on two plates top and bottom of the fridge and leave it in there. The smell will be gone.

Fridge running constantly ,and not cooling effectively?

you need to remove kick plate from bottom of fridge and blow out the condensor coils .some fridges have coils in the back.so you will need to remove back panel at bottom of fridge .if coils are plugged, heat can not be removed from freon.it will begin to super heat before it reaches capilary tube.

The refrigerator in my new home is Roper RT18DKXFN01, a 1997 top freezer about five feet tall. Should I be pulling out pans from the bottom and cleaning them? If so, I can't get it to move - is there some...

Hi ; Not an expert on this fridge,

You do not need to clean the coils

But at the back of the fridge , there should be a water trap sat on top of the compressor that is linked to the fridge via a pipe.
It allows condensation to run out of the fridge to the trap, where the heat from the compressor evaporates it.

Its possible that food waste has travelled down the pipe into the trap and is creating tha bad smell

You could also check the back for anything else that may have arrived by default and is causing the smell

Not sure if it has a special way to move it : But its a heavy object , so a little extra force may be needed.

Take care and good luck

How do you clean cat & dog fur/hair from around the coils?

On some you can remove the vent at the bottom below the doors and can reach the coils with a long brush. On some you remove part of the cardboard backing on the back of the fridge so you can reach the coils.

I have a bottom freezer model that also freezes on top! I've cleaned the coils underneath (and it was pretty bad), and that seemed to work for about a week, but now the unit seems to run alot even though...

cleaning the coils is always a good idea, that's how the unit disipates the heat it pumps from the inside of the box. clean coils make it work more efficiently. Frosty suggests a door gasket leak, allowing fresh, moisture ladden air in, that turns to frost. Runs all the time- check door gaskets. they are replaceable. Could also be a bad thermostat. thermostat is running the fridge, trying to reach the set temperature but won't shut off when it reaches it. Unplug the fridge or shut off the breaker is easier. (good wiring practice mandates a dedicated circuit for refrigerators). change the thermostat.

Does the model cool by allowing cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator or does it have separate cooling equipment like some sub zero's? Is there something blocking air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator?

You say clean outside coils and fan motor coils. Where are they?

The "outside" coils that you are looking for on a refrigerator will be found either on the back, or in the case of your Amana, on the bottom - behind the toe space bezel. There are no coils on the back of the fridge.

The coils are usually thin, black grates that contain the refrigerant. Be careful not to damage them when cleaning. Open the freezer door (yours is a bottom freezer type) and simply grasp at the top of the bezel an gently pull away from the frame.

Use a narrow crevice vacuum tool attachment to pull the dust and debris from the coils. Use a flashlight to see beyond the very front. You may also wish to unplug the fridge so that you do not damage the fan if it is struck by the tool while running. You should vac the coils annually or more frequently if the fridge is in a dusty area - or there is a lot of pet hair collecting on the coils. Some fridges also have the fan hidden behind a removable panel on the at the bottom of the back side of the fridge. If cleaning fan blades - you must unplug the fridge before attempting. Vacuum any dirt and dust on visible coils seen near the fan.

Good luck!

Fridge and freezer is too warm

Unplug first! Start with total cleaning, vacuum, wipe down and defrost. Make sure everything in the motor compressor area is totally clean especially all coils you can reach. Then plug in and see what happens. If still the same it's time for a tech to do pressure checks.

Trouble shooting

After you reach the mid-level point, you will come to an area with two rows of bricks. You must be big, but not mega-sized to perform this trick. Knock out the middle brick on the top row, then knock out the third brick in the bottom row. This will cause a vine to grow. Climb the vine and make your way to the end of the level above to reach the red flag secret exit.

The best way it to buy a coil brush and use your vacuum as you clean. A coil brush is long and skinny and can be bent to reach in tough spots. Some people will blow it out with an air compressor but it is very messy.

I cannot get to the drip pan under refridgerator to empty it. It is filled with sludge and smells bad

Thank willie for helping with one: "Well, it looks like the pan is a seperate plastic pan and not the compressor mounting pan like some of the newer ones are. It appears that you have to remove the condensor fan motor and mounting bracket then maybe the pan will left up and over the compressor, or maybe there is enough room to lift the pan up and out the front over the condensor coils"
