First off is your TV a 3D TV. If it is you should be able to go into the menu setting (or on the remote) and change the display from regular TV to 3D. Then your 3D blu-ray player should recognize it.
You have to put the TV into 3D mode to view it by pressing the 3D button on the remote. Before you press that button, look at the screen... if you see two images side by side, then you would choose SBS... if the images are one on top of the other, then it is the over/under mode, or with Vizio,Top/Bottom option which is the "TB" icon. Once you have chosen this, the screen will inform you to put on your 3D Glasses.
i would check the user manual if it were me. Here´s the an excerpt from the manual.

Unfortunately, there is no way you can do this without making some adjustments to either the movie clip or to your TV. These adjustments could eventually end up in making the 3D movie more or less a normal HD movie. The best way is to buy a 3D TV and glasses. This would help you watch the movie in 3D.
You have to put the TV in 3D mode and some of the Blue ray players have to change the setting also check the owners manual for how to change to 3D mode
