If your Sansa player is freezing, not charging or not turning on, the first thing to try is a reset of the unit. This will normally clear any temporary condition that may cause the player to freeze or not shut off completely, it's a bit like when your PC crashes and you need to re-start it to clear the error. Your battery is most likely dead to the point where it can no longer hold a charge, which is the reason that when you unplug it from the computer, it dies instanly. Batteries are pretty cheap going up to about as high as $25 and if you get it done at a ipod place, installation should not be that much.
Problem resolved. I just let it sit until battery went down far enough for "Battery" alert to come on screen. From there I put a charge on it and everything works fine now. Probably I should have kept it charged up.
The Samsung YP-F1 has a reset button located under the black Samsung cover plate. It can be gently removed via a finger nail or mini flat blade screwdriver. Once plate is removed a hole labeled reset will be seen. Use something like a paper clip and press in. MP3 will power down/reset. MP3 data is also retained after reset.
