Paper feeds from the paper tray but will roll up into the upper position where printing is done.
Check the green paper-size end guide inside the paper tray, it may be too far forward. There's a mark for letter-size paper (LTR) and I have my guide set right at the mark even though it seems it ought to be shorter. Be sure your paper is back up against the mark. You might also buy some different paper and see if that's the problem. Sometimes cheap paper will not feed right (I use Staples copy paper in my ink jet and laser printers).

Thanks, your suggestion led me to the solution, the jam not in the rollers or a senser, but it's in the dock of the printer head, when the printer head moved across, I shone a torch into the dock and saw a black thing, so eventually pulled it and realised that it was paper and it had been dyed black by the ink so that's wht it would be hard to spot!!!! Thanks again
