  • same way you connect to any wifi. switch on the hot spot option in the device u r using as a hot spot then go to your laptop and turn on the wifi.....if u r lucky the laptop will automatically search and give you an option to connect to the wifi hotspot....otherwise u will have to go to wifi settings of your laptop and manually search for the same....visit dell.com for further help.

SOURCE: get a laptop to talk to projector

  1. Are you using the SVGA connector on the laptop or the S-Video?
  2. If using the SVGA (normal computer monitor connector) then you have to "toggle" the proper Function Key. e.g FN+F5 on my laptop to change from internal LCD to external or both.

SOURCE: connecting using wifi

If you go into the device manager and click on Network adapters, is there a wireless adapter listed there? Are there any items that have an exclamation mark next to them? If you answered no to both of the above questions, then there is no wireless adapter installed. You can purchase a PCMCIA wireless adapter rather inexpensively online. ($25) It will just pop right into the PC slot on the side of the laptop.

SOURCE: Which adapter do I need to visit 'hotspots' w/my Inspiron 1000 ?

you can use this one $59 but will have to install it (not to hard), to make sure you don't already have one when booting up hit the F2 key enter the setup/bios menu and see if one is listed under wireless, if it shows one enabled.
if it is you can connect with it, there is no switch on these dells just a software switch.
this one slides in the side and sticks out link$31 as a cheaper option,
hope this helps

Unfortunately, you cannot make the computer a hotspot without a wireless card installed. You could add a wireless card and then search the internet on how to setup the computer as a hotspot with the OS installed on the computer.
