A CI is an to high amp draw on the motor. In my experience it could mean your motor is bad, or motor control board is at issue. The only way to really check is to have an amp meter to see if the motor is drawing to many amps.

285917 MOTOR ABOUT $250
8571359 CONTROL BOARD ABOUT $200.

The biggest issue, is you may also have a transmission locking up, basket drive issues, bearing issues, etc causing the motor to pull the high amps.

Thermal overload protector is mounted on the motor. Normally the motor is replaced.

WASHER NOT WORKING CODE CI

This means Instantaneous current overload.

This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector or motor controller. Overloading the washing machine may cause this.

My Whirlpool Calypso is flashing C1 when I try to start a load

Hello
C1/CI code indicates instantaneous current limit trip. This instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 Amps instantly at the motor windings. This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector or motor controller. Overloading the unit may cause this problem. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Machine won't work it says C1 message. pls advice.

On Whirlpool Calypso washers that is probably not a "1" but is the letter i. The code "CI" is the fault code that indicates "Instantaneous Current Limit". Instantaneous current trip occurs if there is a spike of 26 amps instantly at the motor windings.

This may signify problems with the drive motor, thermal protector (fuse), or motor controller. Overloading the washer may cause this condition. Press stop/cancel to clear the display. Hope this helped you.

Kenmore Calypso #110.2262101 SN-CL3602829 CI error code

The CL fault indicates that there was an instantaneous current spike of 26 amps at the motor windings in the washer. This could be caused by overloading the washer. It can also be caused by problems with the drive motor, thermal protector or the motor controller.

You should have been able to clear the display by pressing the STOP/CANCEL button.

If you try running the washer again and continue to get this fault code even with a small or medium load, I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair the washer.

I have a whirlpool calypso washer and it is showing an error code of C1, what does this mean and how do I fix it

CI (an "i", not a "one") and OB are related - overloaded, the washer's motor controller will draw too much current and either the average current will peak ("CA" error) or the instantaneous current will spike ("CI" error). OB - out of balance - indicates of course a load that is not balanced, or is too heavy. Wash less items and see if the problems lessen. That is what we have had to start doing, but we still can wash a BUNCH of items in this type washer!
