I have been using re-filled HP toners and now all of a sudden the printer wont work and gives me the error of non-HP supply in use. Can I bypass this? It will make copies but wont print or scan.

Issue
After you install a print cartridge, the scan, copy, and fax lights begin to flash at the same time. The printer will not print. One of the following error messages may display on the control panel:
Solution
Follow the steps below until the above issue is resolved. All of the following steps may not be necessary to resolve the issue. When the lights stop flashing, the issue is resolved.
NOTE:
Either one or both of the cartridges could be causing the problem.
Step one: Remove, inspect, and reseat the problem cartridge
The print cartridge may not have full electrical contact with the printer. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge may help.
NOTE:
HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled cartridges.
Step two: Clean the problem cartridge contacts
If the steps above did not solved the problem, follow the steps below to clean the electrical contacts on the print cartridge and in the carriage in the printer.
Step three: Repeat reseating and cleaning steps
If the problem is not solved, repeat the reseating and cleaning procedures above.

Filling your cartridge with non-HP ink won't cause an error. There are basically two reasons for ink system failure, The cartridge is no good or the ink system has failed. Some of these machines can be reset. But, try replacing cartridge first.

If you are using a re-manufactured toner cartridge, this is a common error. There is a chip inside HP manufactured toners that communicates with the printer; oftentimes, cartridge re-manufacturers use third party toner cartridges which lack the chip. You can usually clear this error by pressing the checkmark button several times; the only downside is that Econo-mode will usually not work.

A. - Press and hold the ?*? key. B. - Press the ?#? key and release both keys. Display should say ?Enter Special Key Combo? C. - Press and release in sequence the ?1?, ?2? and ?3? buttons. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer 10. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message ?USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER? followed by ?PRESS OK TO CONTINUE?. Press OK.
