Hi, my camera worked perfectly for more than a year, but now when I turn it on (with the original Panasonic battery) I get the "this battery cannot be used" error message and it turns itself off. I tried cleaning the contacts on the battery with a dry cloth but it didn't help. Then I bought a new non-Panasonic battery (DMW-BCF10) and the same thing happens. Can anyone help me please? Thanks! Sam

Check your batteries, but otherwise it could be a power board. It could cost between $90 - $125 to replace the board

My TZ5 has developed exactly the same problem. I took it to DK Audio Services at Horley,Surrey,RH8 9GA. who repair cameras for Panasonic and was told by the receptionist that although the camera works with the flash off at present it will eventually pack up altogether. She suggested that when I get the quote I phone Panasonic on 08705 3577 357 to try and get them to pay for the repair, it seems it is a known problem! My camera is just over a year old!!

My got fixed when I gave it 5 gentle, firm bangs on the carpet with the bottom facing down. Got the advice from somebody online, figured, it's already broken and about 2 years old so what do I have to lose? To me was less risky than trying to open it. The focus problem got fixed and so far no message. Worth trying

I think the problem may bethat you are using a 4Gb card. The manual says not to use a card larger than 2Gb.
