I would also say its the inverter board if you have a very dark picture that is barley visible.

inverter board - Dark picture barely visible
power supply - if lcd will not turn on at all
lcd controller - if lcd will turn on but picture fails after a few minutes after being heated up or have scrolling lines threw picture. (try heat sync and thermal paste on lcd processor chip)
Main board - System will not book (less likly but if your components are bent or tweaked it could be a possibility)

You need to replace the inverter board. The lamp failing is very uncommon, moreover LCD Tvs have more than one lamp, and they do not fail all at once.
The connection cable from inverter to main board must be tested, the inverter must be tested, then the inverter must be replaced.
If you DIY remember that the inverter is an high voltage board.

Westinghouse WD55UW4620 no picture

Before you replace the power board, there are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue with your Westinghouse WD55UW4620 TV:
  1. Adjust the picture settings: It's possible that the picture settings on your TV have been accidentally adjusted, resulting in a dark picture. Try going into the TV's menu and adjusting the brightness, contrast, and other picture settings to see if that helps.
  2. Check the backlight: The backlight is responsible for illuminating the pixels on your TV screen, and if it's not working properly, it can result in a dark or dim picture. You can check the backlight by shining a flashlight on the screen and seeing if you can make out any images. If you can see images, then the backlight is likely the issue.
  3. Check the cables: Make sure that all the cables connecting your TV to external devices are securely plugged in and not damaged.
If none of these troubleshooting steps work, then it's possible that the power board is the issue. In that case, replacing the power board may fix the problem.

Why does my Toshiba tv screen go from dark to light?

The TV's main culprits to be causing this problem are "dynamic contrast" which maybe darkening the backl light in dark scenes an example a night time or a dark scene in a movie. To make the blacks be deeper (as LCD/LED TV are rubbish at blacks) or brighten it on bright scenes to make the light be lighter and once again to make the blacks be deeper so the images pop out. Also "eco lighting" this will dim or brighten the image based on the amount of light in a room in order to be saving energy. Ether way the easy fix is to turn both of these features off. You will get rid of the problem and enjoy more subtler shades of colour that would otherwise be bleached (brightend) or crushed(darkend) out..

Led tv sound but no image, samsung 32inch tv that has a very dim image and only seen in dark when light help up to it.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should be troubles hooted. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions.
Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

Monitor dims when we turn lights off in room.

You need to give a more detailed description of the problem.
The LG 47LH90 is an LED backlit TV with 'local dimming' technology. This means that there are lots of white LEDs behind the screen and these can be controlled in groups to allow localised areas of the screen to be dimmed to produce better contrast between light and dark. It is very likely that when the room is dark, this local dimming is more noticeable. The actual individual LEDs cannot be controlled and so the area that is dimmed will generally be greater than the area that is required to be dark 'blooming effect'. In addition, LED backlit displays only maintain their contrast through a tight viewing angle. If you sit too farto the right or left, then light from non-dimmed LEDs will leak through and the screen will look lighter.
In short, there may not be any fault with your TV.

Compaq Presario R3000 dim screen but not dark

Sounds like the auto-dim in the BIOS is set too low. Fortunately the Compaq R3000 allows you to adjust the brightness right from the keyboard. Hold down the [FN] function key while tapping the [F8] key will brighten the screen, while [FN]-[F7] will dim it. The settings are different for running on AC power and battery, so you must do each individually.

Black/Green Distortion - Picture Quality - Wharfedale

This is no solution but a point in a probable direction.

A tech guy told me ALL the LCDs they have seen in their repair shop have "swollen" capacitors, this is due to voltage instability. Lowering the internal voltage regulator and replacing the swollen capacitors (which eliminate noise) apparently restores the LCD to new working quality. Without actually "seeing" my problem the tech said that should repair it. I have not tried this yet but eventually will begin that way.
