Why does my TV turn on and off by itself continuously when plugged in? (The remote is not being activated)

My 2008 model TV continuously clicks on and off when plugged in. It makes an audible click sound every time and the power light changes from blue to red. Happens every couple seconds when plugged in and won't stay on long enough to get a picture. Is this something I can fix by replacing a board or something? A green light in the electronic board in the middle of the back of the tv also lights off and on. I turned it off the other night when I went to bed and awoke to it clicking off and on. The power cord looks in good condition, and outlet works good, I checked it. Thanks

Hello, there are several things that it could be, but if the set comes on with a picture even for a couple of seconds, I would bet it's the main board failing. Part # is EBT48854401.....thanks

SOURCE: set turns itself on and off with no picture nor sound

You have a major problem with this set. Could be the main board, the Y-SUS board, or the power board or some combination of these.

My Vista plasma tv has no pic. The remote won't work and it turns off by itself

The first thing you should do is unplug the tv from the electrical outlet for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in. Hopefully it will "recycle". If that fails, check the connections and settings on your TiVo/cable box. Chances are that the remote is fine, but the tv is simply not responding to the infra red signal. As for it turning off by itself, get out the original tv remote, go to menu, then try to search out a place where there is a timer setting. Could be that it got activated accidentally. You also may want to try the "recycle" thing on the cable box itself. Good luck!

I have harmonyH659, I am getting Cable when I push 'watch tv button'. But when I push 'more activities", I amnot getting my dish connection. Used to be OK for last 3 years. what do I do?

Changing the Input settings within an Activity:

1. Login to your Harmony Remote Account.
2. Click on the Settings button next the Activities you are having issues with.
3. Choose Review the settings for this Activity.
4. When the software asks What input does the TV need to be on, change these to the correct settings.
5. Continue through the setup until you are brought back to the Home Screen.
6. Click on the Update remote button and follow the on screen steps.
7. Once the update is completed, please test the Watch TV Activity.

It turns itself on and off repeatedly

Try this:

Unplug the tv let sit for a minute while you replace the batteries in the remote and cover the IR remote sensor on the front of the TV. Cover it with a piece of black tape or a piece of aluminum foil.
Plug the tv back in and turn on.
If it no longer turns on and off by itself then you have IR interference from some other remote operated device in the room.
If it does continue to turn on and off with the IR sensor covered then it is the internal wiring/processors and will need servicing.

Front panel controls are unresponsive

Check volume up switch in front panel locked continuously. If it is not take away the remote control from the TV or remove the battery in the remote. Because maybe the remote continuously sending volume up commands. Rarely this type problem occurs through remote control also. Even problem is not sorted there is problem in EEPROM ic (memory ic). This can be sorted out by the technical persons only. I hope this useful to you.
