Before updating the firmware, you should know about the version of the firmware now running with your TV. Without knowing it, and updating the firmware; might cause the set to get irresponsive to any external commands. So beware before updating. Comcast should be liable. This happened to me with my Olevia 437V Since Olevia went out of business and has no support your options are limited. You could take it to a local repair shop, although they may have problems getting any parts unless they can do a PCB level repair. It may be as easy as the tuner chip. There is a firmware upgrade but I no longer can find it, when it was available it was like $30. There tech stated that the upgrade wasn't related to the tuner but I was a little skeptical that maybe the DTV format was different than how the TV was original designed to accept. You maybe able to just get an external digital tuner also.

No idea what happened but about an hour after posting this the TV started to function properly - now I can switch everything that was previously lokced up. So I'm all good - hopefully it doesn't do it again.

Unfortunately you won't find any firmware upgrades anymore. The firmware upgrades wouldn't solve any VGA issues they would possibly solve HDMI problems. If you get no picture when you connect the VGA to your computer, try different resolutions settings on your PC as not all resolutions will be acknowledged by the TV.

pick up the remote turn on tv....press menu...setup....tv....then channel scan....(note your tv should also be on cable broadcast not air)...hope this is helpful

funny things like channels changing of there own accord ,volume going up and down and other strange goings on are usualy down to the batteries in the remote no longer being of full strenght hope this helps

I reinstall the latest firmware and it solved the problem.
