SOURCE: Black Out
Hi Detrix, Check with www.lcdrepair.net if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your LCD controller and or GUI interface circuit or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. These circuits take the Signal from the computer and controls the 2.5 million pixels on the LCD screen. Dsut can cause major problems with handling all that data. Give it a shot, what do you have to loose, its not dangerous if the monitor is unplugged.
SOURCE: DLP TV: Left half normal, vertical 6" band center is gray, right half almost black. What's wrong?
No. The optical engine is OK. You need an adjustment in the light tunel. Call a tech to do it.

is there any way to disable the light going to that part of the screen? ie: make the stripe black instead of white?

The Problem you all are describing is a faulty light tunnel assembly it is common on most DLP projector sets.
Something I would not recommend attempting if you don't have the skills, It involves taking apart the optical system of the engine, you could have it repaired from an authorized service center for under $400.00.
SOURCE: Image Retention
burn in is not supposed to occur on an lcd tv, however I have an lcd from Proview that leaves images on the polymer layer the white horizontal address bar is the most prominent. if I leave the monitor off for about 3 days the images disappear, this may or may not help you, if Samsung has created a ticket on this issue you may well receive a prepaid shipping label to return the tv for repair.
