My FS45 starts and spins fine, for awhile. then head gets very hot and it won't spin.

The Problem is either:
The Head Unit is broken
The Wiring Loom is broken
The Reset Switch is broken

Could be the starter dragging, it get's hot too. Check brushes.

turn your dailer to spin cycle

Have you put the gear head on correctly.? Are the ends of the shafts pushed in far enough?

when it gets to spin try to open and close the lid and see if it engages spin. if so the timer may not be pausing right before spin to allow the gear to drop and engage the spin cycle. it can also be a clutch or trans issue.you have to sit there through rinse and see if it pauses for a second a few seconds after it starts to drain if not it may be the timer which is common if its not pausing

check the clucth assamble in the head of the edger it sounds like it is slipping

repair shop shortened shaft just a touch to take up slack in drive cable

Clogged water pump. Not draing fast enough. If this is helpful, please post as such.

sounds like may be in clutch see if you can help the tub start spinning when trying in spin setting...if trying to turn or turns some and stops most likey clutch slipping
