This can cause print-quality problems during printing. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems. Clean the paper path and print-cartridge areas every time that the print cartridge is changed or whenever print-quality problems occur. As much as possible, keep the printer from dust and debris. Cleaning the printer eliminates or reduces these problems. Use the following steps to clean the paper path and print-cartridge areas: 1. Turn the printer off and unplug the power cord. 2. Open the top cover. Figure 1: Top cover opened example 3. Remove the print cartridge. Figure 2: Print cartridge removed example CAUTION: To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes.Be careful not to touch the transfer roller (the black, rubber roller located underneath the print cartridge). Skin oils on the roller can cause print-quality problems. 4. With a dry, lint-free cloth, wipe any residue from the paper path area and the print cartridge cavity. Make sure not to touch the transfer roller with fingers, as the oil can contaminate the roller, resulting in print quality defects. Figure 3: Paper path area and print cartridge cavity example 5. Reinstall the print cartridge and close the top cover. Figure 4: Print cartridge reinstalled example NOTE: If the print cartridge is difficult to reinstall, make sure that the registration plate has been flipped back down into position and that the print cartridge is pushed firmly in place. 6. Plug in the power cable and turn on the printer. Cleaning the fuserback to top of page Run the printer cleaning page to keep the fuser free of toner and paper particles that can sometimes accumulate. Accumulation of toner and particles can cause specks to appear on the front or back side of print jobs. To ensure optimum print quality, HP recommends using the cleaning page every time that the print cartridge is replaced or on an automatic pre-established interval. The cleaning procedure takes about 2.5 minutes to complete. A message (either CREATING CLEANING PAGE or CLEANING) appears on the printer control panel display while the cleaning is taking place. NOTE: Use plain paper to print the cleaning page. Please note that this is a two-step process. First print out the cleaning page using the following directions, then follow the directions on the cleaning page itself to reinsert it back into the printer to perform the cleaning. Use the following steps to run the cleaning page: 1. If the printer model includes a duplexer, open the rear output bin. 2. Press example(Select button) to open the menus. 3. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE, and then press example (Select button). 4. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to PRINT QUALITY, and then press example (Select button). 5. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to CREATE CLEANING PAGE, and then press example (Select button). 6. Perform the following to complete the cleaning process. 1. Remove all paper from Tray 1. 2. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to CONFIGURE DEVICE and then press example (Select button). 3. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to PRINT QUALITY and then press example (Select button). 4. Use example (Up button) or example (Down button) to scroll to PROCESS CLEANING PAGE and then press example (Select button). 5. Load the cleaning page created in step 5 above into Tray 1 with the print side down and the arrow towards the printer. 7. If the printer model includes a duplexer, close the rear output bin. Let me know if that helped. Good luck, Tim

SOURCE: won't feed paper

I had the same problem it was not feeding paper, and was giving the out of paper msg, I checked and the feed roller ( small black one in contact with paper) was not rotating, Also when the back cover is removed the roller also did not rotate. I took apart the printer and found that a white gear with the encoder disc (clear film with printed lines) on the central shaft was slighty broken, The shaft is knurled but is a poor design. I had to drill through the gear and the shaft to fit a pin to be able to fully secure the gear to the shaft. Kevin

SOURCE: Printer will not grab the paper HP PSC 1315 All in one inkjet

Try using a cloth (not a paper towel) with some water on it and clean the feed rollers. Also no alcohol.

SOURCE: My inkjet printer is not feeding paper properly.

I would check for little bits of paper stuck on the roller. Did you have a paper jam prior to this problem? Using a good flash light, look for, and remove any little pieces that you might find.

Canon i960 qill not put ink on paper

I called Canon. I also had green 1 flash and amber 1flash everytime I turned on the printer. That right there indicates an elecrical problem. The flashes mean it needs serviced and with it not printing now means it's not wirth fixing, out of warranty. Canon did offer a code for reduced price new or referbished print from them.

Canon I960 inkjet printer color shifts

We are experiencing something simillar with our imagepress. As far as I know, every heavily used Canon (or used for a longer period of time) tends to skew colors towards magenta a little bit. We are dealing with it by reducing magenta in color balance menu for all jobs on the printer, but the result is never perfect (especially in grey where is needed perfect balance of colors).

Cannot clean Canon i960

The print driver might not be sending the correct color profile for photo paper. Check that your selection of the paper type "sticks", that is, that it doesn't revert to plain paper when you click on the print button.
If the print dialog is not working properly, then please get in touch with Canon's tech support to resolve this.

Paper does not feed in properly

It sounds like a guide, bad roller or a seperation pad. This is not a problem you can fix. It needs to be serviced. If it's not to old it still maybe under warranty.

I960 canon printer

Lift lid ,let carriage stop in middle, un-plug the printer > Remove all ink tanks > Remove print head > Soak print head in > 3 parts very warm water an 1 part ammonia over night. Rinse under faucet with water directly over ink ports, shake out excess water,(if when you shake it out and if color still comes out repeat soaking for another hour or two and rinsing again ,HAD TO DO MINE TWICE) let air dry. (hair drier helps) Cured my problem for a while ,but if not used almost every day, this will happen again, I also use compatible ink tanks. Don'T believe the inks are as good as Canon Ink. But who the hell can afford them. So fill your owe with Canon ink from Canon. Still seems that the cyan always dries up first. Good luck Lestero1
