It has a musty smell

Step one: Identify the source. Try switching to a high efficiency powder detergent instead of liquid. (Suds collect in nooks and crannies.)
Step two: Clean. First wipe the inside of the washer, especially the area where the door seals to the inside. Mold can collect around the insides and folds of the rubber seals. Get in there and make sure you cleaned it all. You could use bleach or Pinesol.
Step three: Use a quarter cup of dish washing detergent (powder is best, liquid if you must), along with a towel. Put the machine on the "sanitary" (hottest water) setting. Let it finish its cycle. This should get rid of the mold completely.
Step four: Leave the door open between wash loads. This will decrease the mold build-up as it allows the tub to dry completely
NOTE: IT WILL TAKE 2-3 WASHINGS TO TOTALLY RID THE CLOTHES OF THE MUSTY SMELL.
Hope it helps!

Mold in the seal around the door. Bad musty oder from towels.Very disapointed with this washer.

The mold is coming from too much soap. You have to use HE soap. I know this sounds funny but it's true. I started using less soap as specified by LG after I rinsed the system with water and vinegar a couple of times. But the vinegar in the bleach compartment. I may take a few times to clean the system out but the smell will go away and with continued use of HE soap in small amounts the mold will not return. I never knew mold likes soap scum. Good luck. Give me a thumbs up if this worked for you. :-)

There is mold around the rubber and in the inside of the rubber on my Front Load. How can I get rid of this? Is there a product to clean front load washers?

Hi.

The mold is an enzime from the washing detergent or softener. It attacks certain rubbers and causes them to turn black. Eventually it will cause a musty smell which will go on the clothes.

The only way to remove is by replacing the door seal.
If you try bleach etc then it will cause the mold to get worse.

Hope this helps

Front loaders are known for building up mold and the smell.
It’s caused by using liquid detergent which is made from animal fat. Use powder. And use the minimum amount.
It’s caused by using fabric softener. Dilute it 50/50 with water.
It’s caused by the water remaining in the tub between washes. Leave the door open to allow it to dry. .
Pull the rubber door seal back and clean the mold off .
Affresh is recommended by some manufacturers. You run it through a wash cycle with it.

I have an older front loading washer Frigidaire and it's now smelling like mold on all our clothes thought it was me leaving clothes in to long but it's not. model #FWT445GES2 serial #XC74463636 . I have...

No recall, Pour 2 cups of bleach into the washer, Wash on HOT water, long cycle. Then wipe seal with dry cloth. This will eliminate the mold smell... To stop it from coming back ALL front load washer doors MUST be left open to allow the rubber seal to dry, Just like you close your shower curtain so it doesn't get musty smelling... 2 hours is about the dry time... wiping the seal with a cloth usually helps too... All located in your owners manual/

Mildew on rubber gasket around door.

This happens when you keep the door shut. Run an empty load with extra chlorine bleach to kill the mold spores. Keep the door open to prevent mold or mildew from growing again.

SMELL IN WASHER MODEL #MAH5500BWW AND BLACK MOLD

If you are using a high efficiency front loader than you suffer from the same symptoms that these front loaders typically have. The infamous bad smell and mold.. This is quite common because the front loaders actually seal the wash tub area with a water proof gasket around the door and left closed, the leftover water that gasket will get musty and if left untreated, may develop mold. Home Depot sells AFFRESH tablets that you cycle thru the qwasher about once a month and that usually does the trick.. The less desirable method is to wipe the gasket area with a towel or equivalent and leave the washer door open or partially open to air dry. That's been my experience.. Hope that helps !

The bin stinks like mold

Have had machine for 6 years.  Mold is an issue.  Occatioinally I clean out the drawer and behind the grey rubber seal with vinegar.  After a load is washed, I dry off seal and leave door slightly open.  Occationally I also wash a load of nothing but bleach.   Hope this helps.
