Spins like it should but timer doesn't advance and there's no heat just spins until manually turned off.

If the timer advances in timed cycle but not automatic, you have a bad heater thermostat.

When installing new belt the belt comes off the right side of the drum and through the idler and around the motor shaft, then up the left side

Yank the filter out the top. Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing. Use a putty knife to pop the top and then remove the screws holding the front on. NOTE: raise up on the front panel slightly so you won't damage the bottom clips. Get the front out yer way and remove the drum. Clean out the dryer and oil the rollers and idler. Is yours the gas model? If so I need you to look for some things. Open back door panel and see if while trying to light the igniter is glowing orange. Sea Breeze

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
