If no default printer is selected, or no printer driver is installed, Printer Error #5 is displayed.

Select a default printer in Windows by going to your Control Panel > Printers. Highlight your Printer and go to File on then Menu Bar and choosing Set as Default.

If the correct printer is already set as the default, and you get Error #5, try setting another printer as the default printer. Then select and set the desired printer as the default, and reboot the machine. This sometimes clears the problem.

By right clicking on the printer's icon and select on 'set as default printer'.
If not installed,be sure to set it during setup installations.The 'set printer as the default printer' will appear before full installation.

Go too the control panel and then printers and make sure the printer you installed is set to be the default printer. If is not set as the default printer right click on it and set it as the default printer.

Click on the Start menu and click on Settings, then Printers.

A window will appear showing the icons of all the printers that are installed on your system. Right-click on the icon for the printer you want to use as the default. A menu will appear.

Click on Set as Default

To make sure the correct printer is now set as the default, right-click on the printer icon again. When the menu opens, a check mark should appear before Set as Default.

First make sure the printer is the default printer. If you have office or some other program you can get the print to file setup as the default printer. Just open printer right click and change if required to make it the default. If you don't have a printer hooked up the default is either fax or print to file. So you need to make sure the network printer clp300 is set as the default.

Next go into printer properties and check to see if the driver itself is set to print to file.

Also check your program to make sure it isn't set to print to file. That may be under setup, options, or page setup depending on the program. Usually if you set it to use the default system printer you are ok.

I'd assume its just the first thing ie default printer not set. Sometimes network printers aren't recognized as they should so you have to tell it whos boss ;-]

Go to the Start, Settings, Printers. Select your printer, the set it as your default printer.

You can also get to the printer by way of the Control Panel.

Be sure that you are in fact printing to your printer and not to a virtual printer.

Word Perfect may have set the default printer to a PDF or Post Script Printer instead.

Also, try printing from another application to make sure that the printer driver just isn't corrupted.
