Can this be fixed by replacing the LCD screen?

Growing Black Spots on Insignia LCD Flat Screen

Hi,

Black dots/spots on an LCD panel display indicates either a dead pixel or a stuck pixel. Alternately, if you press lightly on the black spots and they go bigger/darker, then in some instances, it could be that the frame holding the display has been slightly warped when too strong a pressure was applied when it was being cleaned. Should this be the case then corrective measure would be to disassemble and flatten whatever area was dented. Some have reported success with the use of a suction cup. Perhaps this, this or this might be interest you.

If the unit is still under warranty, please try discussing your concern with your dealer. Though a few small spots are an acceptable norm. Alternately and if the warranty has lapsed, there are companies online that offer LCD replacement kits or will replace/fix your LCD and it would cost you less than the cost of a new screen or TV.

Other than the above, am afraid that your options are rather limited.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Why wont my black and decker ultra bright spotlight stay on for more then 10 minutes ?

The batteries are probably no good or your charger is bad. But I say the batteries themselves are bad. All batteries will only last so long. And it also depends how often they are keep charged and discharged. Basically all batteries require some kind of maintenance (recharging / discharging).

When i try to turn my camera on it sounds like its going to turn on but it stops and gives me the message on the screen Lens error 111. then it shuts off. I've been messing with it and i can get it to...

Often times a lens error comes up when the lens extension/focus mechanism has been jammed. It may almost fully function, but then the gears run into a small spot where those tiny gears are jammed, broken, have debris on them, etc. When the motor hits unexpected resistance, the camera kicks back the lens error code and shuts down before it does further damage to itself. Make sure there isn't anything wedged between where the pieces of the lens slide past each other. Past that, the best solution I can offer is to look on ebay... most cameras either die because the lens mechanism breaks, or because the LCD screen breaks. If you can find a donor camera with a bad screen, you can combine the best of both at a pretty reasonable price. These cameras are quite complicated to transplant, but fortunately most lens mechanisms and sensors are a full unit of themselves, and so are the lcd screens. Before investing in the donor camera, take yours apart and see how difficult it appears to be to work on it. Then make your decision. Good luck!

My Hitachi 60VG825 projection TV is 3 years old. For the past several months the screen has been turning blue around the outer edges & this past week a large yellowish green spot the size of a...

Sounds like Calibration is needed on the projection internals. Your TV uses a rear-projection system and the problem is either in the imaging LCD Unit or the light filter. I see in a previous thread you have changed the bulb. You can invest in a voltage regulator to keep the hardware in factory condition.
Also you can burn a DVD of a stuck pixel remedy video and run it on the screen with full brightness and full contrast. This is used for plasma burns and stuck pixels on conventional Flat panel TVs but can repair color issues with projection systems. This therapy is focused on the imaging unit between the projector and the main drop of your tv.
