This need to be transferred in first place to your computer, then you should render it to MPEG2 720x480 Standard Resolution using any Non Linear Editing Software... next you should burn it on a DVD-R using a software like Adobe Encore DVD or any other software to burn DVDs...

SOURCE: We recently connected to Direct

You can try this: Connect your DirecTv to VCR with Red/White/Yellow cables. Then the VCR to your TV with the same type of cables. Make sure the VCR is set to the video input, not the tuner. Turn your TV to the correct video input. Get the program ready on the DVR as if you were going to watch it. Press record on the VCR and then play on the DVR. At the end of the program, press stop on both. You may have a problem with the video recording properly. Some stations broadcast with copyright protection.

How can i transfer programs from a dvr to my dvd recorder?

No, most DVRs do not allow copies to be made to disk, etc.. Some like Dish, do allow you copy to an external hard drive for back up storage and viewing through the DVR.
You need to check with the mfg. of your DVR or service provider.

I have a Toshiba VCR w522 and would like to record a program previously recorded from a DVR. Is it possible?

If the vcr has two scarts connect the DVR player to one and select that imput. Watch the program using the the other scart connected to the TV. Press record on the vcr and then start the DVR player going. If it doesn't have two scarts use the front panel jacks to connect the DVR player.
The only time you won't be able to record a program is if somekind of anti-copy system is employed.

Recording to DVD recorder

I know you can copy to the VCR. but do not know if digital recording has any form of copyright protection. You can try to copy by connecting the outputs of the DVD TV to the inputs of the DVD player recorder.

Copy stored programs

If you have your unit hacked, then you can use tytool to copy the programs to your computer. This will only work for programs that are recorded once the unit is hacked. Do a search for the zipper for series2 dtivos.
