Three things you need to check the mic must be plug into radio, make sure that the radio is set to cb not pa,check your rf gain is turned all the way up and last of all check the antenna. Now that being said if the radio does not receive you might have to take it to a radio shop.

SOURCE: transmits but doesnt receive

If the meter shows that it's receiving something, the microphone may be the problem. Another possibility is the speaker & plugging an external speaker in would confirm this. Aslo make sure the squelch control is turned all the way to the left (counter-clockwise) & the RF gain is turned to the right (clockwise).

SOURCE: Cobra 29LTD CHROME low tx no mod, rx good low Vol, talkback good

1 why would you change the finals?? Have you checked you antenna? How are your SWR's? Crappy antenna's cause a lot of problems.

Use an external meter to see what the SWR is, and see what the output is PEP. If its low, then there is something wrong. If it is High, change the mic and turn up the dynamic all the way.

Next. Have you been messing around in there?? Tryin to get more wattage? You turned VR4? If you thought you were turning it up by turning it all the way to the right, you turned it all the way down. Turn it all the way to the left.

SOURCE: Receives but does not transmit. It is a Cobra 29

There are a few different things that can cause this problem. 1: If it is a power microphone (a microphone that requires a battery). Try replacing the battery. 2: Broken wires that go from the microphone to the plug that plugs into the radio. You can try gently taking the plug apart and inspecting the wires. If only one has come loose, you can re solder it to the pin it came from. If more than one has come loose, find a wiring schematic for the radio that tells which wire goes to which pin and re solder appropriately. 3:Have the SWR's checked on the antenna. If the SWR's are to high and the radio has been being used in this fashion, it could have burned up the transmit finals in the radio. If this is the case, you will need to take it to a reputable radio repair facility to have fixed.

SOURCE: Cobra 150 Lights up,and receives but does not

I know this is going to sound stupid but if you hit or should I say tap ot it will it transmit. If so then you have a bad soilder some where on the board if not its probably your voltage regulator gone bad.

Motorboating is usually a faulty electrolytic capacitor of large value, usually around the audio output sections, also have a check of the power supply too. Check the power to the PLL, too.

Cobra 29ltd turns on but no sound afterwards, not even when I ask for a question the needle doesn't move after I ask the question, installed in a freightliner cascadia

I guess i will have to ask you the most obvious things. Do you have a suitable antenna connected? The needle moves on receive in most cases, not transmit. A watt meter will help you know if you are transmitting.

I have a none amplified D104 G stand it came off my TRAM D201 IT has a two center leeds that's shielded I know this will work on my cobra 29LTD but I don't get it please help

First, you have to replace the cable as you will need a minimum of 4 wires, 2 of them for the transmit and receive switching, and a shielded cable for the audio. It would be nice to have another as the common for the TX/RX switching but the shield is commonly used for this.

You will need to re-wire the switch in the candlestick to allow switching from RX to TX.

Google "D104 to cobra 29 mic wiring" and you will find many hits for this.
Your microphone was not intended to work with this style of radio. To save a buck, the CB manufacturers removed a 50 cent relay to do the transmit/receive switching. You can see what happens when you remove the microphone when you are listening to the Cobra. It'll stop producing any sound. This won't happen with the Tram,

Also, you may have problems with the microphone as it is high impedance as indicated by no transformer or preamp in the base of the microphone. This may be a problem as the Cobra has a relatively low impedance input.

Cobra 29LTD Classic RX seems to go off frequency. Transmit is fine, but can't receive on same channel. i.e. TX on Ch 11, but RX some other frequency. Was talking to my wife and suddenly, her signal was...

all functions of the radio are performed by the main IC 2816c . The frequency is controlled by this also and if it is blown you will loose your frequency and the problem that emits is in your statement.

Older cobra 29ltd channel 1-32 all receive channel 20. 33-40 are ok but it transmits on the right channel also motor boats in receive on channels 16-19.

you have a bad channel synthesizer chip on the board i dont know which chip they use,as for the motorboating in the audio, you most likely have a bad electrolytic capacitor in the crossover circuitry before the audio output I.C.( can have 8 or 10 pins on them depending on which chip it uses) mounted on the side panel perpendicular to the board, they run warm, but should never run hot to the touch
