How do I reset cf-18 to startup using slider on/off switch?

I always start pc with slider at front left of cf-18, I pressed the on off button beside the slider to try a quick shutdown, which is the wifi starter button, now my laptop won't start up using slider control, hence i cant turn it on. How do I rectify this?

SOURCE: Trying to give wake on lan to cf-18 like our cf-19s

not that hard, time consuming task.
BIOS, NIC, Power Option, remote user permission.
which require you to be at the machine. Since you can't do BIOS change via remote.
if all machine are similar, it should take you no more than 10 minutes per machine to set up, and test.

When I start my panasonic toughbook all I get is the panasonic name and then a blank screen

Try to reset hardware first:

1 Disconnect the battery and the charger
2 Let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
3 Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4 Reconnect battery and charger and try to start by pressing the power button.

If it remains same, restart and tap F8.

If you get an menu, select safe mode and press Enter

See if it able to start in safe mode.

NEED TO RESET BIOS PASSWORD AND / OR WINDOWS PASSWORD

To reset the BIOS password, do the following:

1: Make sure it is unplugged from the adapter.
2: Remove the battery.
3: Take out the 13 screws from the bottom cabinet and lift the cabinet about 1in up.
4: Gently unplug the speaker cable.
5: Completely remove the bottom cabinet.
6: Find the little yellow coin sized battery which is located about 2 inches from where you plug in the power adapter.
7: Unplug the coin sized yellow battery.
8: Pump the power switch a few times to discharge what little charge may be remaining in the computer.
9: Plug the coin sized battery back in.
10: Flip the computer over and plug it in to your power adapter.
11: Turn it on and start pressing F2 - the CMOS settings (including the password will have been reset.
12: Press F9 and then enter.
13: Enter the correct time/date.
14: Press F10 followed by enter and it will reboot without a "BIOS" password stored.

For a windows password recovery there are a few programs that can do the job. I personally like "ophcrack". It is freeware that you can easily find using google.

Hope that helps

Where is this Wireless Switch on the CF-18?

intel proset may have the wireless disabled. go to:

start;
all programs;
intel proset wireless;

in the bottom left of the popup should be an on/off switch. you may get a message saying windows is managing the device but windows could manage getting wet in a shower.

cheers

Trouble booting!

You could attempt to boot to safe mode, and run the Start> System Recovery > PC Recovery Application.

Otherwise, I'd boot to safe mode, select start, run, type: msconfig, select the startup tab, remove any unwanted startup items that may be causing the system crash.

Hope this helps.

How do I disable AVStation on startup?

I feel really stupid.

For some reason, I had decided that the slider switch to turn on the computer slid to the left. No, that turns on the AVStation. I had always, for two years, slid the switch to the right, which turns on the computer.

Helps when you're not hit with a truly "senior moment". Or, at least, that's what I going to blame it on.

Have now corrected the direction of my switch sliding finger. As I say, I feel really, really stupid.

Thanks,

wr
