SOURCE: My Miele electric cooktop is completely out,

If the power is reaching the cooktop, can you see any power lights/leds lit on it? If there arent any their may be a fuse inside the cooktop that has blown, perhaps because of a fault. Unplug it turn the unit over and remove any covers on the electronics, use a bright light and have a good look for blackened (charcoal) marks on wiring or circuit boards. If there are any it, it has suffered a failure and the item that has failed may be the blackened part or any other, so the only way to be sure of fixing it is to replace all the electronics, hence it will be cheaper to buy a new cooker top.

My Miele KM342 cooktop has one burner that keeps clicking when on, regardless if the other burners are on or not. This is annoying when cooking. Can it be fixed.

Have you tried to just move the knob away from the 'Start" position. this sounds like the ignitor is still engaged. Aside from that, I'm not sure of a solution.

Hi jennifer20,

I believe those ignition switches have come in to contact with either water or moisture.

Please read my below Tip on how to fix the problem:

If it does not solve your problem, I'd suggest replacing the ignition switches.

Kind Regards

Miele KM 342 - I have burner - will ignite when knob pushed in but once release knob flame goes out

Hi dear.According to you're explanation, there is flame failure safety device in each hob. Please check the hob, there is one ignition plug & one prob next to each other. Please clean them up with hard brush to get rid of the cleaning chemicals(Like: CIF)residue. It's a sensitive prob becareful when you do this. Please make sure it sees the flame. As long as it feels the heat it'll let hob to run.If that's not work, you may need to change it.Please do this if you know what you're doing, other wise call service department.I hope that helps.Thanks.

1 burner wont stop clicking on miele cooktop km 344

We have an older Thermador Gas Cooktop type range. It was working fine until the cleaning crew came in, then all the burner igniters were clicking when turning on a single burner. I solved the problem by cleaning off the igniters. I first of course unplugged the power. Then I took a small wire telcom pic tool to scrape the white and brown deposits from the sides of the igniters. You could probably use something else similiar to do the scraping. I noticed a shiny surface underneath. I then went ahead and scraped and brushed clean the mating surface where the spark travels. I then vacuumed up the mess. My burners all worked great after this. Hope this helps!
