Sounds like the input board on the tv fried. (45-65$ fix if that's it)
Try the same two devices on different inputs , ie change from hdmi to component , or just use hdmi 2 instead of one, you get the idea.
Make sure the devices dont work on other inputs on the tv.
Then take a different device , like a 3rd dvd player and try it.
If nothing works in that input but works in other inputs the tv input board might (likely) need replacing.
If the third fresh device does work in that input , it is both dvd players or the cable you are using. (try to use a different cable in the tests than the one you have already used. )

The Panasonic is not "region restricted". This is a security safeguard by studios to keep people from region 1 from using region 3 content. Some material is released in other countries first and later in others. This keeps other regions from using the content from other parts of the world before it is relaesed by the studio there. Your Zenith is not a region free player and the Panasonic is. There is sometimes hacks on Videohelp.com for DVD players to be set to "region free" but not all DVD players are built with it. SONY is another non-hackable DVD player.

Unplug the DVD player and disconnect all other attachments, press and hold power for 2 minutes to remove all residual voltage in hopes of a microprocessor reset. If this works the DVD should work normally.
