Samsung hln617w61 won't turn after storm - Samsung HLN617W 61" Rear Projection HDTV

A number of Samsung projection TV and LCD TV had bad capacitors. There was even a class-action lawsuit (which is over). It happened to one of mine. If you open up the TV and find the control board you will fine 1 or 2 capacitors that have split on top like a little mushroom. I have them replaced and the TV woks just fine. Amazon even has kits if your a DIY person and can soder.

The light switch is defective replacing the switch should solve the issue.

plug in a bed side light and see is it working and if it is not then the storm has damaged the tramsformer supplying your house

Is it repairable, well, this question can be answered only after opening the back cover and evaluating the damage. From you side, please connect the TV to a different power outlet where other similar devices are working and see. Then try changing the input device to something that sure works. If it does not work even then, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.

if no any stand by power indicator, it was power supply failure.

Your surge protector did not function properly, contact the manufacturer of the power strip.

I believe there is a fuse inside where the cord attaches to the TV. Unplug the unit and be very carefull due to there are capasitors present that can still hold voltage that you don't want to mess with. Hope this helps.
