Hello,
I've got a problem with my Epson Stylus Photo 950 printer, and hope someone here would be able to help me.
The Status Monitor says that the 2 black ink cartridges are empty and shall be replaced. So I replace them by 2 genuine Epson cartridges, according to standard procedure. I obtain an error message saying "Ink cartridges cannot be recognized".
Several times I try to pull out and set back the cartridges. No change, still the same error.
Next, I put back the two old (empty) cartridges. But now, Status Monitor, in stead of saying the cartridges are empty, tells me that "Ink cartridges cannot be recognized" (of course, the old cartridges were also genuine Epson).
There is a real problem here, and I don't know what to do. After all those manipulations the system now pretend that six out of the seven cartriges cannot be recognized.
Any idea ?
Best regards, and thanks a lot.

I had this happen to me twice with two different people, it is highly possible that your black inks are defective, its also highly possible that one of the other inks are causing this error. take them all out, and put one and see what happens, do this one at a time until you see something screwey.
also possible, the contacts on the printhead are dirty or are pushed in.
also possible, bad printhead.
