Getting no audio from speakers on a Vizio E421VA LCD HDTV, any ideas?

All HDMI inputs fail with no sound from TV - DISH receiver and Blu-Ray player are inputs used to test. Originally sound would decrease and increase drastically over past several months, but now it is non existent. TV is 3 1/2 years old and just out of extended warranty.

Do headphones work?
my guess is either the headphone socket or associated wiring/soldering is faulty or there is a faulty connector within (connector associated with the audio)

  • David J Mattley Jun 19, 2014

There is no headphone jack on this model TV. The only audio out is an optical-digital connector and I have not tried that to see if the audio is passed thru from the HDMI inputs. I did just try hooking up an A/V audio source and have the same problem; sound signal in does not produce sound signal out.

Wii hopefully have time this weekend to tear into the TV to see if it is something as simple as a loose connection or a dried out and or buldging electrlytic cap.

Can't get any sound when playing discs through a blu ray player connected via a hdmi cable and DVI adapter.

The DVI adapter stops the audio. Use the audio out ports on the bluray player to connect an audio pair cable to the tv.

My Vizio blu ray won't play through my Pioneer receiver. The picture cycles in and out so I have it hooked up properly but something is not right (could the wi-fi be the culprit?). I had a different...

I'm not sure of your exact setup but I will try to help. The Blu ray player probably has a couple of options as far as output. Two I would have to figure being; HDMI out and a DIgital optical out. I'm assuming you are going into the receiver input then out to tv because you have multiple inputs to tv. If you don't have multiple outputs to tv you could get video straight from blu ray to tv and audio out to reciever then out to tv. HDMI would be your best bet because it handles video and sound. To do this, you would have to have a HDMI in/out on your receiver and a HDMI in on your tv. If you can't do HDMI for audio then there should be a Digital optical output on your Blu ray which could go to your receiver, providing you have the input. If you could provde the model numbers for the units. I could probably be of morre assisiiance.

Sherwood RV-4050R compatible with new gear?

The TV is irrelevant.

BD would need HDMI, digital audio or 5.1 analog inputs on the contol receiver. You have none of these.

I just bought a Blue Ray player but my surround sound has a dvd player built in and only one input which I have my new Sharp TV plugged into. How can I hook up my Blue Ray . I have the HDMI cables

Depending on if your surround system has a hdmi input or not. if it does you can connect the blu-ray player to it. If it doesn't have an hdmi input you will have to run the hdmi cable from the blu-ray to the tv then run a set of rca cables (red and white plugs) from the tv audio out to the surround systems' audio input jacks to get sound through the surround system. Most surround systems don't have an auxiliary input for another video device.

Remove the HDMI cable (out) to the speakers from the receiver.
Connect regular speaker wire from the receiver to the speakers.
Of course, remove the (now extra) HDMI cable from the tv.
That will remove the loop.
