Volume keeps going down

I have a 42 inch sanyo. Model Number dp42841. The volume goes up and down on its own. This is shown by the volume indicator on the tv. It was sporadic at first but it became such a consistent issue that the tv was rendered useless. Removing the remote from the room didn't help.

This is a problem with the sound select board, and there is no real solution. One thing to try is to press the manual volume up or down buttons on the side of the TV and keep them depressed to see of remote volume control is restored. This over rides the volume creep issue. I solved this by shorting the UP control to ground and the creep went away, but there is no manual volume control any more, but the remote still works.

SOURCE: THE MENU KEEPS POPPING UP ON THE SCREEN CONTINOUSLY ON MY 42 INCH

I had an LG 37" LCD that did this to me. Turned out to be bad solder joints on the side button board. Just reflowed and it starting working fine.

But now that I think about, I had another set do the same thing, only it wasn't the button board. I had to upgrade the TV's firmware via the USB service port. Just needed a USB flash drive and downloaded the firmware from the mfg's website. There were easy to follow instructions there too!

I have a Sanyo Model DP42841 and I want to know how to stop the texting that comes when people are speaking?

If your source is the TV (RF input), then the Caption button on the original remote for the DP42841 will let you cycle through the available closed caption options. If you have a universal remote, you'll need to find a code that lets a Caption (or CC) button work with this TV. This is shown on page 8 of manual. ManualsLib has the manual here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/148706/Sanyo-Dp42841.html .

If your source is any set-top box, you need to disable the captions on that source. This can depend on the system setup. I know that on one satellite dish receiver, the captions for a second TV on the system had to be enabled from the primary TV. (Then the captions showed on both TVs.) On a IPTV set-top box that I use, to disable the closed captions, I need to enter the Settings menu using a pass code from the provider. Then the setting is under Audio.

I hope this helps.

Look at the back or the side of the TV, you should have the standard buttons: power, menu, volume + volume - and input depending on the model, use the menu button to get to general menu and volume +/- to navigate

Why my 42" sanyo DP42841 HDTV LCD SCREEN GOES BLACK ON THE LEFT SIDE?

That sounds like a faulty LCD panel tab. The only true fix is to replace the screen. This usually isn't cost effective.

I just bought a sanyo dp42841. I used to have the same tv in a smaller size. The first tv was hooked up to the cable and worked fine. When I attached the same cable to the new tv it's not able to find...

Be sure your cable is hooked up good and if you did not auto scan you must do this (auto scan) Found in the menu setup. Use the remote and press menu and it is usually found easily. Highlight the auto scan and start the scan usually by pressing volume +

Hello my Sanyo dp42849 42 inch has no picture and no sound. when i turn on the tv a green light in the bottom right hand corner comes on and occasionally flashes off and then back on.

First, you need to know the sub-model of your TV.

It is called "chassis" and is shown on the back of the TV on the label where the model number is shown.

For example it can be "P42849-00" or "P42849-01".

Then search at www.coppelltvrepair.com/search or just go to www.coppelltvrepair.com and enter the link for SANYO DP SERIES to search for that.

Here's an example of a repair service (note it may NOT be the one for your exact model though!):

http://www.coppelltvrepair.com/p/41/sanyo-dp42849-p42849-00-does-not-power-on-repair-service

Hope this helps!
