Sony bravia 40inch,I press top left hand button to show program and what the program is about ,all I can get is the channel I am on and not what the program is about,regards bill

Try the RETURN button on the remote to get back to viewing.
Get the manual at Sony KDL 40S2010 Manuals See page 11 for remote control keys and page 38 for further trouble shooting if necessary

Hi, have you tried pressing the TV button that is under the On/Off button on top right hand side of remote control? Some times its possible to accidently press the DVD or VCR controls and this by-passes the TV as a remote?
Another cause can be a poor or low battery in the remote itself. If you have no luck let me know & we can try some more things, however, I have heard that The On/Off Switch on the TV can be a problem. Goodluck, Jon..

IT normally happens after factory reset is done. You need to reprogram the channels. Try the auto program (AUTO TUNING) Process.

1. On your remote commander " Press HOME or MENU button"
2. Scroll down to " SETTINGS or SET-UP"
3. Then to "CHANNEL SET-UP"
   
4. Select " AUTO PROGRAM " To Auto program your LCD TV and it's done..
   

STEP 1: PRESS THE MODE BUTTON ON THE TOP OF THE REMOTE, THEN PRESS TV STEP 2: PRESS AND HOLD THE "SEL" BUTTON AND THESH "MUTE" BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME UNTIL THE BUTTONS ON THE TOP ARE LIGHTING UP IN SEQUENCE FROM RIGHT TO LEFT STEP 3: HOLD THE CHANNEL UP BUTTON UNTIL YOUR TV TURNS OFF. WHEN THE TV TURNS OFF HOLD THE CHANNEL DOWN BUTTON UNTIL YOUR TV IS BACK ON AND ALL LIGHTS ON TOP FLASH AT THE SAME TIME

I am having the same problem with my newish Sony Bravia. There is only a black screen when I use the "GUIDE" button. And individual channels show "No program description".
Did you ever figure out the problem?

Its very easy, pick TV original remote and press " i " (info) button on remote and on-screen display will disappear.

If you have the original remote, press display and hopefully the AV6 display will go away.

Do you have a cable or satellite box connected to the tv?
