A few days ago my DSCW80 camera started giving the error message to turn off and restart the camera whenever I used the zoom to try to take pictures. It takes pictures without zoom fine. Also, once the mechanical zoom has been extended, the camera will not got into the digital zoom. Otherwise, the camera seems to work fine.

Most common problem in al the digital camera's. Slide motor start malfunction and the massage appears"Turn off the power and on again". In this situation you have to replace slide motor or lens block assembly, And your camera work fine again.
