I have very little experience of internet connected vehicles but when my friend took delivery of his new car, the dealer guy asked him whether he wanted his phone connected to it and when he said yes the guy fiddled around for a bit then asked for his number and entered it into the car computer.
If something can be switched on it surely can be switched off, though it would probably be best to entrust it to the dealer.
it does not have the power or connection speed to just stream a video.
by downloading it it can take it's time and when the video is put together it then plays back without buffering.
