SOURCE: auto feeds crooked

Are we talking about a paper feed problem from the paper cassette tray or the Auto Document feeder on the top. Either way, check the the paper width guides, or if it is the paper cassette tray, remove it and check the paper pick up roller locking clips.

I just purchased a dcp-8085dn copier and wondering how do you print on envelopes, do you need a special tray to load your enveopes, if so, where can you purchase

On this machine, envelopes can be run thru the manual feed table. Just open up the front door with "Brother" on it and you will see inside of that door is the manual feed with the side guides that are adjustable. Just insert your envelope and adjust the side guides up against the envelope. Then when printing you have to specify the manual feed as the paper source and envelope as the paper type. Takes a bit of getting used to but is not to hard.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Printer is saying manual feed insert paper. Will not print

To load paper or other media in the Manual Feed Slot (directly above the Paper Tray)

You can load envelopes and special print media one at a time into this slot. Use the manual feed slot to print or copy on labels, envelopes or thicker paper.

1. Slide the paper guides to fit the paper size.
2. Using both hands put one sheet of paper in the manual feed slot until you feel the front edge of the paper touch the paper feed roller. Let go of the paper when you feel the machine feed the paper in a short distance.

Note: When you put paper in the manual feed slot, please remember the following:
■ The side to be printed on must be face up.
■ Put the leading edge (top of the paper) in first and push it gently into the slot.
■ Make sure that the paper is straight and in the proper position on the manual feed slot. If it is not, the paper may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam.
■ Do not put more than one sheet or envelope in the manual feed slot at a time or you may cause the machine to jam.
■ You can remove smaller sizes of printed paper from the output paper tray more easily if you lift the scanner cover using both hands as shown in the illustration.

You can still use the machine when the scanner cover is raised. You can return the scanner cover to its home position by pushing it down with both hands.

If you would like to disable Manual Feed Mode, check that the manual feed mode is not selected in the printer driver.

Here is a copy of the User's Manual for the Brother MFC-7820N.

My document won't print

It's not sensing the paper. Take all the paper out, and try to feed a sheet at a time to clear this code.

How to you turn on the manual feed for the HL 5250dn?

Simply pull down the door on the front of the machine and insert paper into the manual feed tray. There is a sensor that recognises paper in the manual feed try and will then print from it.

It won't print - says manual feed - load paper tray. Its a brand new printer (Brother HL-4040CDN) and the paper tray is full

The printer has an "alternate" feed, i.e., for envelopes and/or for special paper.

Open the door to access that "manual" tray, take some paper from the "normal" tray, and insert the paper into the "manual" tray.

Or, on the printer's controls, set the "standard" feed, rather than the "manual" feed, and press PRINT.

My Brother 5250DN is not pulling paper through. What could it be?

do a test print... see you manual. You hold a button for 3 seonds and it'll print a test page. If that works you should be OK. Make sure that your paper tray is NOT over loaded. Maybe try less paper. Try the manual feed using one sheet of paper

Brother mfc-7420 printer - manual feed instead of automatic

ok, thank you

you probably had a document that was not using 8.5 x 11 paper or the print settings were the printer to use the manual tray.

thanks adi
