SOURCE: error diffusion on Samsung 50" PLASMA TV

Yes the diffusion problem on your tv is due to the pdp panel aging. What you can try is readjusting the VSCAN voltage, there is a test point marked VSCAN using a DVM you can first check the voltage, should be around -- 190 turn the adjustment counter clockwise this should reduce the voltage, watcthing the picture turn control untill the sparkling pixels stop. That should do it. The panel is starting to age this may occur again until you can't adjust it out meaning a bad panel.

SOURCE: samsung 50" plasma tv with no picture but has sound.

I just had a similar issue with my 46" Samsung LCD and fixed it myself for $5.11! I realize we have different tvs, but I bet it is the same issue ... crapped out capacitors.

I researched the problem online and most places, like samsung's site, referred me to call a repairman and called for the whole control panel or power supply to be replaced for anywhere between $400-$1000. I was like ... "screw that" ... I refuse to put in a fautly part in the place of a faulty part. So I continued to research.

That's when I stumbled on youtube. There are many how to videos on how to tackle this daunting task. I read that the issue was more than likely faulty capacitors and there is a very easy way to tell if it is in fact the capacitors that are blown. instead of having a flat top, faulty capacitors are crowned or even ruptured! When I opened up my TV I saw 3 blown capacitors!

So I bought 3 new capacitors all with the same uf and higher volts ... I think all three of my capacitors were 1000 uf and 25 volts. I kept the uf the same (recommended) and raised the voltage to 35 volts. It doesn't mean more volts, it just means it COULD handle more volts if it had to (which was the problem those cheap Samsung bastards screwed up on). This is a very common problem with Samsung TVs.

Anyway, I have never soldered before, but I did it. I warmed up the solder on the bad capacitors and removed them them slid thenew ones in and soldered them in and popped everything back together ... and PRESTO .... the damn thing works better than ever!

3 capacitors= $5.11
1 solder gun and solder= about $18
fixing an incredibly intimidating TV by yourself= PRICELESS!

Seriously ... don't be afraid to F up ... check it out on youtube and other place and save yourself a bundle. Source(s): I just fixed my TV!!!!!!!!

My 55" plasma Samsung tv model number PN51E450A1FXZA. The red power standby light is lite but when you hit the power button it blinks and returns to a solid red with no picture or sound

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. I have a hitachi 50 "plasma that was given to me

First do you see a light indicating that the TV has power? There are two power buttons on the TV (the main power and the regular power button). The red standby light will light up when the main power switch is on. This indicator is just to the left of the remote I/R sensor. You can find the main switch on the bottom front of the tv (it is under the tv forward of the stand). Turn on the Main power if it is not on. Then try the power button on the control panel of the TV again.

Does the standby light change color or blink? (Red is standby, orange is power savings (no signal), blue is on.) If the main switch is on and the standby light doesn't come on, the TV has a problem at the power supply. Try unplugging the unit for a bit (at least 30 seconds) and then plugging it back in. This will reset the internal circuitry. If you see a blinking light, then the TV is reporting a self-test failure. I do not know the codes for this model Hitachi Plasma TV.

The manual for the Hitachi P50H401 TV is available from Retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Hitachi-P50H401-TVs-manual/id/1233ci869/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to access the pdf.

I'm assuming you don't have one of the special versions that were intended for large audiences that were only controlled by remote (no control keys on the front of the TV). Remotes.com has the original remote or a substitute remote if you need it. See http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=13104063628240&smodel=P50H401&brand_pn=HITACHI_P50H401 .

I hope this helps.
