Why is dishwasher giving three flashing lights on samsung 2012 model

  • Ronald Rissel Feb 16, 2015

Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? What 3 flashing lights? The lights flash are a code indicating the problem.

  • Ronald Rissel Mar 22, 2015

I don't have the definite answer for the Samsung DMT400 series, but for other similar Samsung dishwashers, the Smart-Auto and Normal lights flashing indicates a high-temp heating error, and this is usually caused by a bad ECS or temperature sensor.

It depends on what 3 lights are flashing. These lights are a code as to what is wrong, and how to fix it.

Why is my dishwasher giving three flashing lights on samsung 2012 model and how do i fix it.

It depends on which lights are flashing, because this is a code from Samsung to tell the technician what is wrong. So we really need to know which lights are flashing to answer your question.

Normal, heavy, delicate lights stuck on--cant power on or off

If you have tried to unplug from mains power and there is no difference then you will need to provide the actual model number of your dishwasher in comments field.
The Samsung error codes for Normal, Heavy , Delicate lights stuck is not listed. The closest is Normal, Heavy, Quick which relates to a Low Water level. Also confirm which lights are stuck in your case and whether these are flashing or not.

My dishwasher gives an E3 error

The E3 error code is not a defined error for this dishwasher. If you are sure it is E3 then best option is to give the controller a reset. This is done by

Press the Delay Start + Normal + Power keys at the same time for two seconds to enter Service Inspection Mode.
- "ALL" is displayed for the first three (3) seconds and then "t1" is displayed.

Press OFF at this stage. Do not attempt to run the inspection as this could damage the dishwasher unless you are familiar with the what each mode does.
If the Error E3 keeps coming back then call the Samsung technician.

The control panel is flashing a L. What does this mean?

Hi.

The model indicated: MDB5651A does not have display and the error codes are shown like flashing lights. If that is your model and problem please just tell me what lights are flashing.

In Maytag with display instead, the L on display means that the machine is control locked. That is not an error message, but a code telling that the machine has been locked by the user (probably by mistake since you are the user).

I quote from Maytag technical documentation:

? If a cycle or option pad is pressed after the controls have been locked, the indicator light next to lock graphic will flash five times. On selected models with a countdown display, the display will flash the symbol "L" simultaneously with lock indicator.

? This option does not lock the door, only the dishwasher controls.

To set :
1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
2. An indicator light next to the lock graphic will illuminate when the controls are locked.

To Cancel Control Lock:
1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
2. The indicator light will go off as instructed.

Try pressing the the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. If that doesn't work disconnect power. Connect back and try again unlock (power off does not remove the lock). If that still does not work there may be a faulty part. In that case turn appliance off and give me the full model number.

Start holding down the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. In normal conditions that is enough to get rid of the L and of control lock.

If you need parts or schematics see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Regards.
