How do I find the slow leak on My Model CLJ42-1A, (S.N. 0304478477).

The last time a technician charged the system was a very long time ago. He put more Freon in and poof within 4 days I'm feeling hot air. He has checked the compressor for leaks and none found? Do you have any suggestions on where else to look. He is thinking of doing nitrogen treatment to find leak? Roy

SOURCE: 5 ton goodman ac unit

You MUST WEIGH IN THE NEW CHARGE OF R-22. There should be a label on the side of the a/c unit that states what the factory charge was. This is only a starting point. Once you have the factory charge in the system, then turn on the unit and allow it to stabilize (5 min) . Check pressure on low side and check teperature on low side pipe. Temperature of pipe should be 8 to 15 degrees above what the boiling point of the refrigerant is for the current pressure you are reading. If the temperature is more than 15 degrees, add R-22 in 4oz increments allowing 5min in between each time you add until you are in the "zone". When you do this, your head pressure needs to be 225-250. if you need to cover the coil or block the outdoor fan to do this then do it. Hook up the vacuum pump and start over

SOURCE: freon leaking

First, you need to complain to the owner about the tech not informing you that the freon would leak out again. It's addtional costs that were not explained to you. If he's a good guy, he may credit you something if you decide to use him to complete the repair. Otherwise, take your money to someone else. And be sure to tell you friends about how you were treated. Vote with your wallet.
Now, He was not totally correct about finding the leak. In 99% of cases, when a leak is in a system, a detector is used to "Smell" the freon and give a signal that there is a leak So, in this case, freon needs to be in the system. Once the leak is found and verified, there can be no freon present in the section of the system that is being repaired. To keep it short, just a big safety no-no. If the leak is in the indoor coil (evap), chances are, they will not repair it. They will try to sell you a new coil. Since yours is only 4 years old, there is the possibility that there may be some sort of pro-rated warranty from the manufacturer. One never knows, ask about it.
Now, repairing an indoor coil is not a good idea. If it leaks once, it's going to leak again.....and again.....and again. Just replace it as they have to do basically everything it takes to remove it to repair it. You should replace it since it is already out. I do not know of any company that will patch leaking evaps. Just bad business. Customers not happy as other leaks soon show up.
Finally, removing all the freon may not be necessary. Ask him about "Pumping down the system into the condensing unit". This can isolate the entire indoor coil and piping so a repair can be done with minimal lose of freon. Remember, it also depends where the leak is at. It may not be possible to do this in every case.

Good luck and hope this clears up some things for you.

SOURCE: Blowing hot air, compressor not kicking on, just fan ? ?

are you speaking of the outside fan or inside? compressor should be a little warm but not boiling hot. the unit could be low on freon. if low it will run a while but the compressor will overheat and shut off leaving the fan running by itself ouside. if nothing outside is running check power. if you have power check the contacted outside to make sure it's pulled in. contacters are bad about going out on goodman untis. Also ants can get under contacts.

Why did fridge stop working, then freezer 4 days later?

how it works. 6 month ago another technician came to this service call and found out that system is low on freon. So he charge it up with freon and add leak dye into the system. Leak was really slow, so he could not find at first. Here Im 6 month later, found leak dye with special light (dye leak set (tools) cost about 180$), did not need to order any parts, but replaced copper tube. Customer paid around 600$ for repair total for this repair. Hope That Helps!

GE Monogram built-in loses gas within 2 days

You need to find out where the leak is located to repair otherwise if you continue to charge with Freon the fridge is going to get moisture inside the sealed system. A lot of times the evaporator will leak causing moisture to be pulled in. The leak could also be in the condenser coils or the yoder loop. Can you charge it again and use soapy water to help you to locate the leak? Are you equipped to repair the refrigerator? Thanks John Tripp Sea Breeze

How do I recharge the air condition on my 2000 nissan frontier?

If it needs to be charged,it has a leak & is poluting
the atmosphere

Therfore it need to be leak tested, system repaired,
a vacuum pump attached & the system vacuumed
dry,then properly recharged

You have no way to add & know what is in there
or being put in

You need A/C Manifold Gauges just to check the system
operation & charge correctly.

Charging may not be the issue at all

Need it diagnosed by a person train in A/C repair

Where do i ad freon to my chevy equinox

You shouldn't ever have to add freon to an a/c system. It is a closed system - like your refrigerator. When was the last time you added freon to your refrigerator or home a/c when there wasn't a problem?

If you are needing to add freon, then you have a leak somewhere that needs to be repaired. Your local automotive technician can diagnose the problem for you. Freon should only be added by trained professionals. If you don't know what you are doing, you can charge the system incorrectly causing significant damage to the system.

If you still want to do it yourself, reference this article.
You will need a set of A/C Gauges, and freon.
Do NOT put any type of stop leak into the system - this can cause irreversible damage to the compressor.

Central AC unit not cooling

If you have access to your piping system you may use a soap bubbles to test the pipe connection. the leak gas will blow the bubbles if there is leaking. But if your system is out off freon gas, you can not use this method. just try it check the connection first put the bubbles around it.

2000 Toyota Sienna air condition problem

Well, if the mechanic is right and the only current leak is the condensor, I'd go ahead with it... The dryer is a normal item to replace in your case, because the system was leaking for so long... Only a drop of moisture in an A/C system can cause more harm than you could imagine. The dryer takes care of any moisture that could seep in but after the system has been open for a while a new dryer is needed because the dessicant (drying agent) becomes saturated and cannot absorb any more moisture. "Increased pressure" will not cause a problem unless you have another slow leak somewhere else than the condensor. If you really want to find out your odds on this, find a knowledgeable A/C technician with a good ultrasonic leak tester (many good service garages have this tool, which can detect a slow leak as little as 1/8 OZ a year), but you have to be sure the tech knows how to use the tool because without knowledge/experience it is quite useless. If there are no other leaks, go ahead, and even if there is another smaller leak, fixing it at the same time while the system is being serviced for the condensor is the way to go. Instead of having another bill for hundreds of dollars later for a 2$ o-ring or a loose fitting, they probably will charge you only a couple of dollars for the added work. A lot of the labour charge on A/C work is spent on emptying the system, vacumming it for 30 minutes after the work is done to remove all traces of moisture, and refilling the system. Better do it all at once, and save the labour part of things.
