My remote starter quit working. I replaced the battery but it still will not work. How can I tell if it is the remote? How can iI troubleshoot it?

Problem shouldn't be remote starter...
Either the battery is wearing out or there is a drain somewhere.

have your remote controller checked for defective batteries and replace

check battery or contacts

if you know the battery in the remote is good, you may need to reprogram the remote. does your keyless entry work? are they both on the same remote? ive reprogramed a replacement keyless entry for a 97 by using a short jumper wire on the obd II plug. you have to jump two of the pins and then hit the remote button a few times till it locks/unlocks then its synced. off hand i dont remeber which pins but google is your friend. not sure if this will also work on the remote start, if they use the same remote than it should.

look under your dash on the driver side get the model number of the actual unit then go to www.crimestopper.com go to support tab click manuals and manuals again and find the model number you found under your dash the problem with this remote is that the cs34-ii is used on many different units this was told to me buy the tech support from crimestopper. you can try to reset your remote if that does not work maybe your remote just needs replaced

Synchronization
Turn ignition switch to position II. Turn ignition switch to position 0 and remove key. Within 1 minute: Press and hold key lock button. Press unlock button 5 times. Remote control should now operate system. If not: Repeat procedure.

the remote that does not work is probably bad.orrr it might need the code reset to match the 1 that works..
