Try to boot up pressing the F8 button, when the menu appears select the option "Windows in safe mode" if u can boot to windows. View our software installed.
If it is not software try, boot whit the windows installation disk enter to the setup and select the option repair, u will go to a DOS prompted window (all black whit white letters) must appear "c:\"
used the command "chkdsk /f /r" let it run he will try to find any problem in the disk.

hmm... given that it boots up fine into safe mode, i think there's a strong possibility that the problem is virus or spyware related.
i would see if you can run a virus scan with some good programs, check your startup processes to see if you find anything out of the ordinary, etc.
if you do find something or also think its a virus, reloading windows will always take care of that, and definitely speed up your system.
hope this helps

It sounds like the RAM is either not compatable or is bad. Put the old RAM back in and try again. Also the V2000 and HP DV2000 is in recall for mother board problems.
