If water full light stays on the compressor wont start and remove water from air , investigate why light stays on ? is bucket really full? is sensor knocked out of its fragile holder ? is bucket all the way inside machine so that sensor is connected ?

Are the fan and the compressor both on? These dehumidifiers seem to have a lot of trouble. Check out this forum:

Normal 0 When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

My fan runs but the compressor does not start on my whirlpool model ad25bsro so no water is collected.

1st ck that the bucket full light is not on , reguardless if bucket is m/t and in place , if light is on then the float sensor inside bucket container needs looked at , if no light is seen then it's common on new units to run the circulation fan all the time , and cycle the compressor on the humidistat's setting , reverify what the settings are for your room , std setting is 70%rH for a home , also a seperate meter to indicate %rh might help to determine if your unit is working properly (there not expensive) it migtht be that your room is dry enough and unit is not calling for water removal

Unit keeps cycling off and on with the "bucket full" light blinking

It appears as if the water may not be flowing through the hose.
* When you use a hose the unit must be located near the drain. If the hose is to long the water will not flow freely and cause the water to back up in the hose triggering the bucket full.
* If the unit is lower or the hose runs up hill even the slightest incline will cause the water not to flow backing up to the machine
* Hose must remain flat and in a down hill flow to the drain if you are running a longer hose than recommended. If you are have a long distance to run the hose elevate the dehumidifieer by placing it on a stand, milk crate, anything that will hold the unit. Be sure it is large enough and strong enough to support the unit to prevent it from falling. This will help siphon the water from the unit and prevent any water to back up the unit.
* If your using an old hose make sure there are no kinks and water flows freely through the hose. Any kinks or type of pinch in the hose will cause the water to back up

I hope this helps resolve your issue. This is the most common mistake when using a hose.

The light indicating the bucket is full stays on with no water in it.

Michael, the problem you're experiencing is caused by one of two things. Solving either requires turning the unit OFF , unplugging it and removal of the water collection bucket.

1. The float valve in the top of the bucket is either broken or stuck in the ON position. Check the arm of the float valve to see if it moves freely and is not broken.

2. The bucket was not reinstalled properly. Install the bucket so that it fits "squarely' from top to bottom into the bucket holder and that is it makes good contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the rear wall of the bucket holder.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

My dehumidifier's red light illuminates seconds after turning on the unit even though no water has been collected... it is unusable

Shannon, this is also an indication that the water collection bucket was not reinstalled properly. Turn the unit OFF, unplug the unit and remove the water collection bucket. While it's out, check the top of the bucket for a float valve (if yours is so equipped). As it may be stuck in the UP position. If so, jiggle the arm of the float valve to make it return to the down position. When you reinstall the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder and makes firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the back wall of the bucket holder. The bucket should not tilt down at the bottom when installed properly.

Lug the unit in and turn is ON. If all was checked and done correctly, the bucket full light should not illuminate.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

It runs but leaks water, water won't stay in bucket

Denise, there are several things that can cause the problem.

1. The water collection bucket is not installed properly. Turn the unit OFF and remove the bucket. While you have it out, look at the top of the bucket, is there a float valve near the top. If so, it may be stuck in the DOWN position, which tells the dehumidifier the bucket is not full yet. Jiggle the arm of the float valve to see if it moves freely. Reinstall the bucket bucket "squarely" from top to bottom into it's holder. The bottom should not tilt down at all, if installed properly.

2. The drain tube to the bucket may be clogged. To solve this problem do the following:

Remove the water collection bucket and look up inside the bucket holder cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the water into the bucket. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

3. The water you're seeing may not be from the bucket overflowing or leaking. It's condensation that is has built up on the cooling coils and is dripping down under the unit. If this is the case, it's an indication that the coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Warm water and dish washing liquid works well to clean the coils. Be sure to rinse them with a damp rag, dry thoroughly and spray a light coating of WD40 on them.

I hope that all the information I have provided will help you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

It says it is full and there is no water in there and it will not run because it thinks it is full]

Usually when this occurs, the unit "thinks it's full', because either the water collection bucket is not installed properly or the float valve (if you model has one) in the top of the bucket, is stuck in the "UP' position.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Remove the water collection bucket and check for the float valve. If it's stuck in the UP position, jiggle the handle to make it return to the DOWN position. Then reinstall the bucket, being sure that it fits into it's holder "squarely" from top to bottom and is making firm contact with the Bucket Safety Removal Switch on the rear wall of the bucket holder. If installed properly, the bottom of the bucket should not tilt down at all. Plug the unit in and turn it ON. If everything was done correctly, the Full Bucket Light should not illuminate.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Light says tank is full, but it is not. i've turned it over but no water runs out. how can i get it started? is there a reset button?

This problem is generally caused by improper installation of the water collection bucket. In not installed properly, the bucket will not make contact with bucket removal safety switch.
When installing the bucket, be sure that you seat it "squarely" from top to bottom into the bucket holder. The bottom of the bucket should not tilt down in any way.

Another cause ( if your unit has one ) is the float valve in the top of the water collection bucket is stuck in the UP position. Which indicates to the units electronics, that the bucket is full.
Remove the bucket and look at the top of it. You may see what appears to be a plastic lever contraption, that is the float valve. If it appears to be in the UP position, jiggle the rod to get it to return to the down position.

I hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Why is the red water full light on and not worrking?

Usually, when the red water full light glows, it means that the water collection bucket is full & needs to be removed and emptied. Once that's done and the bucket is reinstalled properly, the red light will go out and the unit will turn back ON.

Unit collects water but periodically continues running despite full bucket which is flush in unit, what could be causing this it doesn't happen everytime.

there is a floater switch on the machine over the bucket (and sometimes in it). the floater tells the machine that the bucket is full. if the floater is stuck, the machine will assume that the bucket is not yet full, and will continue to run. check that floater switch with the bucket out. you may need to press in the bucket switch so the machine thinks the bucket is in. then lift the floater and see if it stops running. if not, the switch is bad.

Red light comes on for no reason. Danby DDR6588EE dehumidifier

I have a DDR4588EE (same model with 45 pint capacity) and had the exact same problem. It's caused by the float at the top of the bucket being in poor contact with the "full" detector button. When the bucket is not full, the float on the bucket is supposed to press against the button. When the bucket fills, the float is supposed to push up off the button which causes the unit to stop and the red light comes on. The problem is that for some reason, the float isn't pressing hard enough against the button to push it properly in when the bucket isn't full. I fixed it by sticking a few little squares of duct tape (3 or 4 layers) on the float to make it press the button more firmly. Seems to be working fine now. Careful not to put too much tape or it might press too firmly which would result in the float not releasing the button when the bucket is full, and water will spill over.
