I have a tomtom go 720 and the maps have been deleted where can i go to get them back ?

My tomtom go 720 has had maps wiped off it. where on the net can I go to reinstall them for free ??

If anyone knows where to get updated maps online it would be very helpful, TomTom wants over way too much $$ for a simple map update I could buy 2 new tomtoms (that come with lifetime updates) for the cost of a single map update on my unit

Register the device, tomtom home will reinstall the original map that was on the unit when new

SOURCE: TomTom ONE MAP deleted.

I have a TomTom one xl and nothings free at TomTom. Maps cost $69.

When the navigation software was replaced, you need to validate / activate the map (previously on your device) again.
If your map subscription is (still) valid, you can download a new version of the map and activate it. Otherwise, you'll have to purchase a map (or yearly) subscription, to get the map to use.

If that doesn't work, just try downloading all the maps and installing them from scratch.

I paid for a new up grade for U.S. Maps for my Tom Tom 720. IIt would not down load because of not enough space. When I turn the GPS back on. it was set on another country Gaum. How do I get it off?
Tom do not seem to overwrite the existing map file. So before trying to install the map, you need to delete the folder that contains the map. (It is important to read the next part before you delete the map folder). Once you have connected your TomTom to the computer, close the TomTom home window. Double click on my computer. You will see the TomTom hard drive as a drive (like you see the CD drive). Double click on that . Once the folders of the TomTom hard drive opens, look for a folder named USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P. (Please note: this name is for American continent. For others, this name will be different). Right click on it. click properties. Check whether the size of this folder is approximately around 1.3 GB to 1.5 GB. This is just to make sure we have the correct folder. After confirming this is the map folder, copy this folder to your computer for back up purpose. Once you have it safely in your computer, delete this folder from the TomTom hardrive. Go back to TomTom homesoftware. Use the map guarantee to update/Upgrade the new map. You will see this time around the installation completes without a problem.

Restarts unexpectedly and slow to start
The TomTom 520 and 720 are the same unit. the differance is the maps. The 520 has maps of the US and the 720 has maps of Europe. Download the free clearflash utility from TomTom and run it a couple of times. This should clear up your problem. Sometimes the mapset config in the map gets full and it has to be cleared.

If you download the maps using tomtom home then you should be able to revert back, or you could download the america map to a memory card

Your best bet is to reinstall the maps, from scratch. This will ensure that all the maps are included.

TomTom Go 720 GPS suddenly won't recognise Australian maps has message "You cannot use this map on this device: Australia Regards, Lorance
These error's occur when units have cracked maps put on them.
When you update your tomtom device it will replace the cracked file with the original tomtom file.

these units on ebay are mainly refurbished units even tho they are in 'sealed' packaging, they opened your box, put cracked maps and sell the device for more then what they have paid for it.

Best to take it back to person you purchased it from.

avoid tomtom products from ebay, most of them have cracked maps.
