I am wondering if you are using a different bobbin, in your manual, it specifically states that you have to use an SA 156 bobbin not one from an older machine. If, you do not use the right size it will act like you are talking about. I know that you should check that out.
The only time that I have had this happen is when I used a plastic bobbin, because it would jump out of position. Try a metal SA 156 bobbin. You can buy them on ebay 20 for $9.00 free shipping.
I use a SA 156 metal bobbin with this machine and that stopped any issues with the bobbin. You can get them at any store that sells Brother sewing machines. They are the same size as the Singer 15j and work better. Ebay also has a site that sells them 20 for $8.99 and free shipping and they are fast.
I would try a metal bobbin, SA 156 or a Singer 15j. The SA 156 metal bobbins can be bought really cheap on ebay for $8.99 free shipping and there are 20 in the package. My 3116 sometimes will act up with the plastic bobbins and this cleared it up for me. Hope this helps you. You may be able to find the bobbins local because it is the same one they use in Brother machines but they will cost you more. Good luck
Sounds like you have the wrong size bobbins in your machine, I have found the best results with SA 156 metal ones that I bought on ebay, 20 for $8.99 and free shipping. Good luck
