The Intermatic E1020C timer is a 120 volt, single gang, single pole switch. This means it must ONLY be used on 120 volt circuits (to operate the internal timer motor), will fit into a standard electrical swithbox (does not require over or double sized boxes) and will replace a standard, single pole switch ie: has ONLY two terminal screws (not including the green ground terminal) and if a toggle type - has ON and OFF on the handle. The only additional requirement is that the switchbox will need hot (often black or red) & neutral (nearly always white) power in wires and hot (again, black or red) and neutral (again, nearly always white) power out (to the light or fan) wires. Many times, these devices are wired a little differently - with just 2 wires - instead of the four cited above. This is to provide power to keep the timer motor operating. The manual for this switch can be downloaded (and printed)
here.
The part number of the old switch you provided does not appear to be correct. This number lends me to believe that it is for a 220-240 volt circuit. The closest I could find to an Intermatic part number was WG230-13. This part is the timer motor for replacement on a differnt style timer. It is indeed a 220 - 240 volt clock motor as I suspected. Please double check the brand and model number once more.
Lastly, if you can not find the info requested above, you should be able to replace the old timer with the new style - provided that the installation requirements cited in the first paragraph are met. Shut the power off before removing timers and switches and test with a working meter to be sure.
I hope this helps & good luck!
