If your sound bar is plugged in it is bypassing your TV's speakers the same as if you plugged headphones in your phone you cant hear the main speaker

easiest way would be to connect the optical audio output from the tv to the optical input on the soundbar. You may have to go into the tv's setup menu and enable the audio output jack

Do you happen to have the model of the TV? My Samsung only has two digital optical outputs. If your'e plugging in JBLs, you may only have an analogue input which won't work.

Use the audio out from tv to (audio in) in the sound bar.

Your TV does not have an audio out. If you want sound thru the sound bar then you have to hook it to your cable or satelite sourse.

any sound bar will work. i have a LG 50" with a Samsung sound bar with a optical audio wire going from my tv to the sound bar. it comes with a bluetooth sub woofer and it sounds great.
