SOURCE: Memory Card Error

Do not ever format a card.,any card via a computer That does it in. For camera use it will not be recognised. Put the card in the card reader and if there is anything at all on it delete it. Try to reformat in the camera again- failing that -new card.

SOURCE: Memory card error/card locked

It sounds like your card is locked. You need to unlock it. On one of the sides you should see a piece that can move back and forth. Move it from the position it is now to the other side. This should unlock your card. When locked the files are unaccessible to anyone. This also means that files on the SD card cannot be deleted while the switch is in lock position. When the switch is in up-position, then all files located on the card are accessible to anyone, and that files may be deleted from the card.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: memory card error canon powershot S3 IS

Sounds like the camera may need to be sent into canon to be fixed. I had to do that once- they allow you to track the camera from the moment they receive it- till the moment it is fixed. It was not so bad.

SOURCE: S80 Memory Card Error Multiple cards same error

Hello

OK, if the memory card itself is locked, you might sometimes get this error code. All you need to do is to take out the memory card and switch the lever on the left side to the unlock.

If the error is still displayed after you did the above, you might want to try the card in another camera.

If the card works in another camera . the problem is with your card reader in your camera.

If you open you sd slot and look inside with a sharp light , you should be able to see on the left side of the slot there is a little copper or spring steel lever switch. This switch work as follows:

1. When no card is inserted / no write protection , the switch is open and thus the protection is off.
2. When locked card is inserted , the tab is depressed and tells the camera that the card is lock.

Contrary to popular belief ,the little tab on the sd card is not an electronic switch and does not physically influence the card operation itself. If you put a locked card into a camera without a sd lock switch , you would still be able to use the card normally.

It is incredible difficult to fix this switch because of space limitations in the sd card. Look into the sd slot and if you can see the switch , use a needle to pull the little tab down toward the base of the camera by about 2mm or until it works being careful not to bend it.

If this does not resolve your problem , there might be a short in the switch circuit and the camera will need to be disassembled to resolve this error. This should cost no more than $50.

Please feel free to contact me if you need further information

Kind regards
Andrea

Memory Error

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Each time i put my memory car in my phone that is a blackberry 9000 i get a message saying " A media card has been inserted that contains errors. To correct the errors please use a disk error-checking...

Hello.

To do that, you need a card reader. Insert your memory card into a card reader, then:

Insert the card reader into your computer's empty USB slot.

Go to "computer" or "my computer".

Right click on the drive of your card reader and choose properties.

Click the "Tools" tab then click "Check now"

Check "Automatically fix errors" and "Scan for and attempt to recover bad sectors"

Click "start" and wait for it to finish.

That should fix the errors. If it doesn't, format your memory card.

MEMORY CARD ERROR

I will give you the steps that you can isolate whether memory card or the reader has malfunction. check the memory card with external card reader by connecting to computer if card really bad it will alert either error or unformatted (make sure write protection of the card is off if exist). When you format in computer successfully it can work in camera too. If issue persist in camera side you can try another card and next step will be hardware repair of camera reader. hope it will help.
