Because my screen was frozen, I used a factory reset for my MID M729B Android OS. However, there is no change. The screen comes up with accurate time and date but none of the functions work when I touch them. It also immediately powers off when I unplug it, even though it has been charged overnight. The battery indicator says it is charged.

Can you tell me where you got the upgraded rom from, and have you tried downloading the firmware from the manufacturer's website? http://www.archos.com/us/support/support_tech/updates_fwm.html
- Turn off the device and wait 10 seconds. - Press and hold the volume + button while powering on the device. - Keep the volume + pressed until the Recovery mode starts (white screen). - To move from one option to another, use the volume buttons. To select an option, press the ON/OFF button.
There should be an option to factory reset or erase your tablet.
A bit late but FWIW, I had this problem. I eventually just moved any data I needed to a safe place & fully reset it. To reset, hold the power button & volume up button simultaneously. It should boot to a screen that tells you what to do next. I think they ask you to keep holding the power button for a reset. Do that & you'll see a big old 3D Android figure & a blue progress bar. Give it a minute & it should eventually load. After that I got a screen that said it was "updating" & gave me a percentage countdown. It finally booted like normal to factory settings. All of my data was gone but it now turns on/off like it should.
