How to replace lower cable winder ?

Hello, Lower Cable winder broke on my Dyson DC41 and i got a replacement part from Dyson. I need help replacing it. I took the hose off but can't figure out how to take the old part out. Could not find anything online. Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to replace the lower cable winder really easily. Take the hose off the DC41 and simply push back and pull/push up the lower cable winder out. It should pop out easy. Put the new one back in and put the hose back.

Hi Mani, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC41's lower cable winder is attached to the hose assembly, and if the cable winder has broken you would need a replacement hose assembly. It's likely your DC41 would still be within our 5-year guarantee period, so it would be worth contacting us directly so we can order this for you.

When you have a moment, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1-866-693-9766 (US) to speak with our experts.

SOURCE: dyson suction loss

make sure the filters in the bottom are clean, then remove the canister and you will need to clean it thouroughly, pay close attention to the upper section inside where the "cones" come togetheri have read that they are prone to clog up here and lose suction, google dyson suction loss or how to clean a dyson ect...pay attention to getting the rod that releases the bottom to dump back in the correct place or it will not work right. a few write ups tell about this!

SOURCE: Hello, How can I clean the

HI there,
By Lower filter i am going to assume you mean the one below the clear plastic dust bin. The machine you have described has a thick hepa filter (probably with a purple plastic rim) and unfortunately they cannot be effectively cleaned. If you are keen to try then I would suggest using an air compressor blowing from the top to the bottom.
What I would really suggest you do though is throw it out and replace the hepa filter with a new one. If you are in Australia I would try Vacuumspot or Nelson Vacuums.

SOURCE: Lower filter repair to eliminate excess noise

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear your DC18 is making an unusual noise. Please note, the filter located beneath the clear bin is designed to last the lifetime of the machine, and does not need to be maintained or replaced. Attempting to clean this filter is likely to cause damage, so we'd strongly advise against this.

Although I note you've already cleaned the filter located inside the cyclone pack, you might want to take a look at the video below to check you've done so as recommended. In normal use, this should be done at least once every 3 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing it.

You may also want to run through the troubleshooting steps shown in our Support guide to make sure there are no obstructions you may have missed:

If your machine continues to make an unusual noise, I'd encourage you to get in touch with us directly, as we'd appreciate the opportunity to provide further assistance. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

How do replace belt on dc41

Ouch The video below shows how to to remove the brush head and how to clean it. I almost think that Dyson didn't ever expect this belt to break. The rest of the disassembly to get to the brush seems to be done by removing torx screws, I have not been able to find a replacement from dyson. A google search shows several sites that sell a replacement belt.

The hose suction on my Dyson Animal (DC41) is fine, but will not disengage when you put the hose back and want to use the floor sweeper.

Hi Stacy, it's Jack at Dyson.

This issue you've described with your DC41 sounds unusual, as the changeover valve will divert suction to the cleaner head automatically when you recline the machine into the vacuuming position. If it's not doing this, it's possible you have a blockage somewhere in the cleaner head, internal hose or changeover valve.

To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc41/dc41-irspu/diagnosis-root-menu/performance-flo-area-check-dc41/flo-brushbarvid-dc41/redirect-to-performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose/performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose

Dyson animal loss of suction only in base makes a popping sound and feel very warm

    Hi Chris,

It's normal for your machine to become warm in use - like most Dyson vacuums, DC41 Animal will shut itself down for protection if it starts to overheat.

However, the popping sound and change in performance you've described suggest that something is blocking the machine. This is simple to resolve following our online troubleshooting checks: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc41/dc41-irspu/diagnosis-root-menu/performance-flo-area-check-dc41/flo-brushbarvid-dc41/redirect-to-performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose/performance-flo-base-dc41-checking-the-internal-hose

It's also a good idea to give the filters a wash - in normal use this should be done at least once every three months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them.

If you'd like further advice after you've given this a try, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

My dyson just quit all of a sudden??

Hi Brian, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC41 shut itself off during use, this is likely to be due to a blockage - the filter may also need a wash. Most Dyson vacuums are engineered to shut down for protection if they start to overheat.

To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:
    http://content.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1580&product=DC41-IRSPU

In normal use, DC41's filters need to be washed at least once every three months, as shown in the video attached. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would like any further advice you can reach us directly by emailing [email protected]
