Try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update. Also, make sure that you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges. If not, replace the cartridge.
Your cartridge may need to cleaned. On the printer operator panel, press Setup button -> Maintenance -> Deep Clean Printhead. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them.
If that doesn't help, your printer probably needs to be updated. The firmware update, available at http://bit.ly/p205fw, will help fix print quality issues.
Make sure you are using genuine Lexmark cartridges. It could be that your black cartridge needs cleaning. Try to do the Deep Clean Printhead function on the printer. Press Ink Levels -> press More Options -> select Deep Clean Printhead. The printer will then print a clean cartridge nozzles page. If black ink is not printed on the page, you may need to update your printer's firmware. The update corrects print quality issues on your printer. Black printer ink in kodak Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.
First thing to do is to try updating the firmware of the printer, just make sure that your printer is idle and has no error before proceeding, you can get the update at www.kodak.com/go/dowloads if you still have the same issue after that try deep cleaning the printhead 2x
try doing a print head cleaning once or twice and try replacing the black ink cartridge and make sure it is genuine Kodak ink cartridge as there are many look alike and refill inks sold by retailers.......if still does not work print head issue and you may contact Kodak Tech support,,,,,,,,,,,
You need a new printhead from Kodak AiO support. After that is in and you do not have the error message anymore, download the latest firmware at www.kodak.com/go/5300downloads
1-Deep clean and calibrate the printhead
2-Try a firmware update @ www.kodak.com/go/downloads
3-Try a removal and reinstall of the printhead and inks
