Charging port broken

Was able to get case open but found that the charging port was broken in two parts and off of the board. Is their a replacement connector or should I try to find one that can be put on the outside of the tablet?

We had the same problem.. The cheapest way to save ur tab is to use your usb port to charge it.. You must connect the + of the charging port to the #1(+) pin of the micro usb female port( otg port) using a well insulated wire. Be very carefull when doing this.. If you know someone who have knowledge in electronic better ask for help than be sorry..I have done this and its working. Btw convert also the charger to male micro usb coz a normal mobile charger will take several hours before full charge.. Theres a guide in google to make it.. Goodluck!

Honestly, even if you could find the part (not likely - tablets are commodity items these days), you would need specialized tools to de-solder the remainder of the old port and solder the new port, and you would risk damaging other components because of the proximity of parts on these small circuit boards. If you want to take it on, research who actually builds the tablet and contact them about parts. A better option might be to find one with a broken screen or some such (check local 'for sale' sites) and try to swap only that part (if the charging port happens to be connected to a smaller 'side' board rather than the main board). Tough one. Good luck.

Tablet does not charge

I would try another charger and cable. If that does not work your charging port may be broken. If that is the case it may need to be repaired or replaced. If this is a cheap tablet, I would say replace it.

Samsung CE0168 How much is a replacement face/screen and how difficult is it to replace?

I've recently replaced a glass screen and LCD on my grand prime and a sister board charging port on my note 4. I have zero experience with anything close to phone repair and had no problems. I ordered my replacement parts thru Amazon and watched you tube videos for instructions. My only cautionary advice would be to tell you to take pics of each step that you do, keep a note card and write down steps as you go, use a marker to mark each screw hole that you take screws out, and to place a towel or cloth on your work area. I personally found a hair dryer to be more helpful than a heat gun and finally, order the replacement part PLUS the tools. They are crucial! Good luck

Why won't my 10.1 tablet charge?

Hello Pauline,

I know this must be frustrating. When this occurs, it is more times then not a problem with the hardware power port on the tablet. (the hole you plug the USB cable into on the tablet)/ The USB cable cannot make a solid connection because the port is damaged, and therefore electricity cannot get to the device or battery.

Do you have a warranty? I recommend seeing if the manufacturer will replace it. Also, if you have device insurance, you can try and get a replacement. Either way, you must replace the broken hardware power port.

Good luck!

Have to push power adapter hard for tablet to charge

The power port is damaged - most likely the solder joints are loose or broken. You need to find a store where someone can open the case, order the new part for the tablet and then solder the new power port to the board.

Then it will be as good as new.

I have replaced power ports on laptops, phones and tablets.

Can I replace the charging port in my Nexus 7 FHD 2013 16 GB tablet

If it's just loose, you can snap it back in. If the port is broken off the ribbon though, you can always try to replace the broken part yourself first. search model name plus "repair guide" on any search engine. They will show details about about part replacement etc. in detail. There are other websites that sell all the replacement parts, one of the bigger ones is http://portatronics.com (646) 797 2838. Then for the repair itself you can venture to do it yourself, or better ask a friend who has done a similar repair before.

My nexus 7 is not turning on anymore. It's been charging for days. Any ideas?

The battery connector in the Nexus 7 (2012 model) is notoriously problematic. Sometimes dropping the device can cause issues that prevent the Nexus 7 from charging altogether. A hard reset may not work. Fortunately, it is quite easy to fix.

However this will void your warranty. Pop the back of the Nexus 7 case open by pushing a credit card or guitar pick or small screwdriver under the edge of the black plastic case. Start from the top and gently pry the case open, working your way around. The back of the case will come off quite easily. The battery occupies the bulk of the left-hand side of the unit, and a group of six wires come out of the top of the battery to a connector on the circuit board. Gently push the plug out of the socket connector, wait 15 seconds, and push it back in. Snap the case back on and plug in your charger. You should now see the battery charge image appear.
